2014 Vauxhall Corsa SXi 1.4 16v petrol
Summary:
Nice little run about, but nothing special
Faults:
Not much beyond wear ad tear items over the last five years or so. The car has never broken down, I keep it serviced on time. Only minor issues;
Parcel shelf loose and rattly. Cruise control works when it likes. Air con is long dead, not worth repairing.
Cosmetically looking a bit rough, but it is nearly 12 years old now.
General Comments:
2014 Corsa (64 reg), last of the older shape cars before the new model came out in 2015. I prefer the looks of this one anyways.
A very smart looking little car in black with alloy wheels in SXi spec. 2 door model.
Inside quite spacious for its size, seats two adults in easy comfort, plenty of electric things to play with. Very quiet and refined on the move, drives like a much bigger car. Rear hatch space is just about big enough too for some shopping.
To drive the standard 1.4 petrol is a good one to go for, reasonable tax and insurance bracket, and performance, while not super fast, can move quick when needed. Not as economical as hoped however. Yes it will do around 40 mpg, which for petrol is OK, but forget Vauxhall's claim of 50 mpg from this engine; get the diesels if you want that.
All in all however, if you are looking for a cheap run about, the Corsa has always been a safe choice. Reliable if looked after, there are plenty out there to choose from, so look for a nice one and don't pay too much, very competitive market. Avoid boy racer modified versions.
