1994 Vauxhall Tigra 1.6i petrol

Summary:

The best sports coupe pound for pound

Faults:

Commonly known sticking valves. Hence it failed its MOT. Due to poor emissions. It would have cost a fortune via a dealer, but got it done back street.

Wiring loom blew, hundreds to repair. A.B.S. sensors need replacing five at the last count. Drive shaft went, this explains the nasty vibrations on the brake pedal. Cam belt rollers and tensioner replaced on 40,000. Short circuit behind fuse box.

General Comments:

Could not part with it, it has character, still unique. Great electric package and wonderfully fun interior. I have seriously modified my tigra and the engine management has coped well with the extra power.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No

I have a 1994 Tigra, which I have had for only 3 months, it is a super sexy car, but has developed a problem, which has left both main dealers and side garages scratching their heads. It has lost all acceleration, when pressing the pedal there is no power, which is scary when pulling away on a roundabout! It does pick up speed, but takes a good half a mile. I have had the ECU checked, EGR valve changed, the cat converter changed, the injectors checked, had a new water pump, cam belt and pulleys changed and still they cannot find the problem. If anybody has had a similar experience please let me know what the outcome was!
