2000 Vauxhall Zafira Elegance 1.8

Summary:

Practical, comfortable, spacious, versatile family vehicle

Faults:

Nought - except the dealer scraping the side down the workshop door half an hour before I was due to collect it!!!

General Comments:

Unfortunately this is a thirsty beast, I understand this is not uncommon with an automatic.

In general though I love it. High driving position, superb lumbar support (adjustable) on the driver's seat, I need it due to back disability.

This has to be one of the easiest, most comfortable cars to drive that's ever been built. Obviously no speed or acceleration records to be made (0-60 in 3 days), but it will potter round town easily and cruise the motorways all day.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Yes I agree that it is a fuel guzzler. I only obtain an average of between 8.7 km/l to 9.5 km/l. My Zafira is also an auto 1.8L.

How about yours?

Our Zafira, 1.8 manual transmittion, model year 2001, started with 10l/100km consumption. It is decreasing now, but the 5000km average is still high, 9.2l/100km or more. OK, we use air condition a lot, and do not hesitate to accelerate on a highway.

I got my new Zafira about 2 weeks ago and feel the consumption is pretty high compared with my old Honda. I can feel gear movement through the gear lever when I shift from no 2 gear to no 3 gear (it won't happened to other gear, only no. 3 gear).

Water temp is always about 90 degrees C, even driving on the highway (it should cool down a bit by the air). The car is very comfortable and goes steady.

My partner and I purchased a 2001 Zafira Club which we were very happy with, but recently we've developed a rumbling sound through the floor and a knocking when driving over speed bumps from the front of the car. Has anybody else encountered the same problem? Any comments would be appreciated.
