2010 Vauxhall Zafira Exclusiv 1.7 CDTi

Summary:

Not bad

Faults:

Weak handbrake, oil leak, suspension mounts, EGR valve, minor electronic issues. Climate control useless (broken buttons); will need sorted.

General Comments:

A big comfy family vehicle, the Zafira does what it is supposed to do, but it is no more than average in all other areas.

Not bad to drive, slow but does a solid 47 mpg on diesel with mixed motorway / city driving.

Very comfortable and spacious interior which is why I bought this car. Even the basic Exclusiv model has plenty of equipment.

Looks good in black, I added alloy wheels. One of the better looking MPV's I'd say.

Just had mine serviced + MOT. No major issues, durable vehicle at 14 years old and higher mileage it is still going strong. Try one if you just need a decent family vehicle, just don't expect anything exciting.

2010 Vauxhall Zafira Energy 1.6 16v petrol

Summary:

Not the best in the MPV class, but good enough

Faults:

Quite a lot, but mostly wear and tear items. Far too much to list actually. The car has never left me broken down by the side of the road, but there was always some part wearing out or something to fix at MOT time. To be fair I have put decent mileage on it. Make sure you service it on time and do the timing belt, and you should be generally OK.

General Comments:

The Zafira has a huge and spacious, comfortable interior, cannot fault this car's comfort levels at all, which is why I bought it (for family use) it has been perfect for that purpose. Excellent visibility, huge windows and doors.

Everything else is middle of the road. Running costs have been average. Not great, not bad, and reliability is much the same.

The car is pretty boring to drive, 1.6 16v petrol will do you a solid 40 mpg on a good day (expect a bit less around town and in winter, maybe only 33 mpg) not very fast, 1.8 is probably better. I'd recommend the diesels, but have heard they can be unreliable.

Energy model is lower range, but has plenty of electrics.

Good seats.

What more can I say, it is an MPV! Not a bad car, but not memorable at all. Getting on a bit in years and miles, I'll probably trade it for something else soon.

2010 Vauxhall Zafira Design 1.8 petrol

Summary:

It was OK

Faults:

Brake discs and pads, rear caliper needed replaced.

Air con stopped working.

12v socket a bit reluctant to work.

Small oil leak from engine, nothing major.

Cam-belt change and services kept up to date.

General Comments:

A pretty forgettable MPV I had for a few years, the Zafira was however reliable and very spacious.

1.8 petrol is an OK engine, fast enough for me while doing 37 - 40 MPG.

Inside was very nice, acres of space and quality feel of seats and materials. Design model had plenty of kit.

Surprisingly good to drive, easy to use controls and excellent visibility.

A fine all round family vehicle.

2010 Vauxhall Zafira Elite 1.8 petrol

Summary:

Average

Faults:

Engine check light sometimes illuminates, but goes away on its own; mechanic did diagnostics, could not find anything wrong. Does not seem to affect the way it drives.

The car is heavy on brakes; discs and pads replaced all round twice in my ownership. I drive carefully so I do not know why this is.

Rear suspension replaced.

A/C not quite as good as it used to be.

Leather looking worn; to be fair it is older now and higher mileage.

I have changed the timing belt and water pump; the car has had every service.

General Comments:

An average MPV, the Zafira is nothing special. A much better built car than my previous Fiat however.

Elite model has the lot, very well equipped, leather and electric everything. Interior is incredibly spacious and comfortable.

The car drives OK, 1.8 engine is fast when you need to overtake, and does 37 - 40 mpg on average. You get a cold reception at some Vauxhall dealers if you are in for service or repair - my advice would be to find a cheaper independent garage for Vauxhall's of this age now.

A decent spacious family vehicle, you can get these real cheap now on the used market.
