Summary:
Good memories, classic Beetle
Faults:
Just about everything, but major rust killed it off when it was 18 years old. This was the death of many Beetles.
General Comments:
An interesting first car, I loved this thing despite its faults. Bright red classic Beetle. Had hints of blue paint elsewhere, it was clearly resprayed.
1.3 was slow and not that economical.
Brutal in winter, cramped cold interior.
Passers by loved it, but clearly never owned one!
Iconic shape and design.
Would love another today as a project car.

I had a 1960's Beetle back in the day. Summer fun only indeed - as you said, not a car for the winter!
I always got comments about it from passers by and enthusiasts alike, but to be honest, nostalgia aside, they were not that reliable, I was always fixing something! And as you said, rust killed it in the end.
