2004 Volkswagen Bora Highline 1.6 petrol

Summary:

Luxurious compact saloon

Faults:

Alternator and battery, many brakes and suspension components, exhaust mid section, and so on. The car has been serviced correctly.

Auto box a bit jerky, but no problems otherwise.

Cosmetically the car is in great shape, but I keep it clean and garaged.

General Comments:

Highline Bora is the top model - Dark blue exterior with cream leather inside and all the options on this car. Electric everything. Alloy wheels look great. Love it.

Owned since 2010, this car has never left me stranded, and I have enjoyed every journey with its high spec. The car is the smaller Bora saloon and the options are more suited to a larger luxury car. If I have any complaints, it would be the ride is a bit too firm, that is the only thing ruining an otherwise perfectly reined experience.

The 1.6 with the auto is not very fast, and economy is poor by today's standards (34 mpg at best) but as the car is older now it is not my daily driver, I keep it as a second car.

In short the Bora from this time period is an excellent VW, but for a daily driver I would highly recommend the 1.9 TDi models, any petrol engine is virtually unusable as an everyday car nowadays with current fuel prices.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes
