2012 Volkswagen up Move Up!

Summary:

Great little car, remember what it's designed for though

Faults:

Nothing yet!!

General Comments:

Bought this car for my wife. Wanted something cheap to run & tax.

Lovely car, great engine, quick enough for normal driving conditions, ride is a little uncomfortable on country roads, but saying that this is really a city car, so can't complain too much.

Brought the 5 door version, as our children are now 5 & 10, & the car has loads of leg room in the back for them. Also like the pop out windows in the back. It stops the kids winding down windows at 70mph, & getting that horrible thudding noise the wind makes.

The car has power steering, A/C, remote locking, and quite a big boot (enough for school bags, or a weeks worth of shopping).

Fuel mileage is great. Our previous car (1.6 Astra automatic) use to use around £40 a week in petrol; this uses £44 a fortnight.

Overall, a nice small car, with lots of cabin space. Only issue I have got is the radio display is a little bright when driving on a night, and you can't turn the brightness down. Besides that, it ticks all the right boxes.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Just been looking on this site, and forgot I wrote this review in 2014.

So glad I came across this, I doubt this happens often, so here’s an update since I posted the original one in 2014.

We still have the car, it’s now done 119000 miles. The car is still great, we’ve had no issues with it at all. I’ve serviced it myself since 2014 every 7000 miles. Had a cam belt fitted at 90000 miles. Only thing which went recently was the ignition barrel (common fault on VW’s apparently!!) Got the main dealer to do it which was £700.

Can’t really complain, as we’ve had the car 9 years, done 100,000 miles in it. I’ve kept it washed and waxed, there’s no wear to the seats, the interior / exterior / paint is still like new. It still drives as good as when we brought it in 2014!! I’ve obviously changed tyres, disks and pads, basic servicing over the years. Still on original suspension components, exhaust etc. Passes its MOT each year with zero advisories. The children at the time I wrote this are now teenagers!! Actually this will be my son's car now he’s passed his test!!

We’ve just brought a 2015 model with 30000 miles on it as our son is having this one. Really are a fantastic car for the money.
