2009 Volkswagen Passat CC 2.0 turbo

Summary:

Great looks, great ride, pity about the rear seating

Faults:

Auto headlights switch on in broad daylight.

Horn problems.

Squeaks in the dashboard.

General Comments:

I was very skeptical about buying a VW again after a really bad experience with a Golf IV a few years ago... but the looks of Passat CC forced me to take a closer look at the local dealer and... well the rest is pretty much history.

I loved the car in every respect, the looks, the size, everything, loaded with bells and whistles and got a really good deal...

What I don't like is the rear headroom, but then again, this is a 4-door coupe, the rear split bench is also a negative, so are the blind spots (really bad rear visibility), but the excellent optical parking system compensates for this design flaw.

All in all, worth every penny!

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

I have a Passat CC too and wish to comment on this review:

1. The Passat CC has day time running lights so this may explain the reviewer's complaint of lights turning on in daylight. However the main xenon lights are only activated in low light conditions. Thus - during the day - if you are going under a bridge, tunnel etc or there is low visibility due to poor weather, the main beams (xenons) turn on. I have actually been very impressed with how effective the system is. Auto wipers on/off is also very effective too (though sometimes it does not sense light rain if the sensitivity setting is on too low).

2. Rear poor rear visibility seems to be an issue when you first drive the car. However, it's actually not too bad once you get used to the car. Indeed the rear pillars are quite slim given their styling. Admittedly the rear window is relatively small (though larger than a lot of coupes) but parking is extremely easy with front and rear sensors. My car also have the optional rear view camera fitted which makes parking a cinch.

3. The CC was originally designed to be a 4 seater car, though there is now the option of a fifth seat in some markets. I find the 4 seater configuration more flattering to its upmarket "coupe" style. The rear seats are very comfortable individual bucket seats, heated too! Tall passengers may hit the roofline when entering the rear, but it's actually quite spacious in the back for fully grown adults; far more spacious than your typical coupe, which usually have difficulties even accommodating children at times!

4. Agree the CC is "worth every penny". It's actually good value compared to a lot of the other premium cars out there.

I have a 2009 CC Sport. I like the car very much.

Parts, like oil filters are hard to find. Buy them on the Internet because your local auto parts store won't have them.

Dash rattles are a small problem.

Mileage and performance is great.

I still have people ask me about the car when I am getting gas.

I just turned over 40,000 miles, and have had no real problems.
