1984 Ford LTD Brougham 3.8 V6

Summary:

Great car

Faults:

The car has been excellent and reliable, my only complain is with the air conditioner evaporator; In 18 years I have put 4 new ones, which means that each one lasted only less that 5 years.

General Comments:

I just love this car, I bought it new in March 28, 1984 and has been running like a champ ever since.

The interior is very roomy for its size, and the seats are very comfortable. I drive the car mostly on freeways, and for the most part on long trips, 9 to 12 hours; and when I reach my destination, I'm as fresh as when I started the trip.

The overall performance is very good for a car this size with a 3.8 liters V6, it has a good response for passing other car on the road, and going up hill it shows good power.

My car came equipped with heavy duty suspension, front and rear sway bars, and 11 inches disk brakes up front, so it shows a very good handling and breaking power. On fast tight corners, it shows some body roll, but this is not worst that in any of the other American sedans that I have driven.

The car is now 18 years old, and the body shows no signs of rust or deterioration, it is still tight and very quiet.

In summary, this one of the best cars that I ever had; I will be happier with a 5.0 litter (302 C.I.) V8, but overall this a great car; on a scale of 1 to 10, I give it a 9.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

I had a 84 LTD as well. It was a family car which was passed over to me when I started College. It was my first car. Unfortunitly I got into an accident and it was totaled. It was the fault of the other person mind you. Anyways, I've had since then a 91 Ford Tempo which I had for 10 years.. I loved it... and now I have a Nissian 2001 Sentra. But I still and always will love my first car, the 84 LTD. I miss it.
