2017 Volvo XC60 SE Lux 2.4 turbo diesel from UK and Ireland

Summary:

A car for all seasons... No beauty queen

Faults:

Rear ABS sensor.

General Comments:

Grumbles first:-

ABS sensor on the rear wheel... glitching. Not expensive

The infotainment system is a real chore... Forget doing anything fancy on the go. So many options!! In fairness, I'm a VERY boring man... When I'm driving, I drive... I don't sing along to ABBA or want to know where the nearest Norman Castle is.

Comfort:

Sublime... Extremely comfortable. Almost too comfortable. Getting in and out is a cinch as the car sits quite high. No moaning and groaning.

Zoominess:

With more than 200 gee gees under the bonnet, it goes very well... Surprisingly well!

Safety:

Excellent brakes airbags etc etc etc...I don't like the City Safe system. The car is a bit of a nanny.

Practicality:

Hmmm 1400 litres (seats flat). That's 200 less than the XC70 and 400 less than the XC90

Does it pass the Labrador test? Yes... You can fit a large dog in the back, but the distance from the road to the floor of the boot is quite high... Older mutts will struggle.

Economy:

MPG... Take it easy (60MPH) and you'll see north of 50MPG on a long run... Around town 35-36 is more usual.

Coolness:

It's a Volvo XC60... It is the last word in un-cool. The XC90 is sub zero. The XC70 is a good looking machine. The XC60 is a sensible small to mid sized SUV and SUVs in general are not cool.

2022 Volvo XC60 Recharge Polestar Hybrid from North America

Summary:

Nice looking, but no use to me if I can't drive it

Faults:

I took delivery of a "from the factory" XC60 Recharge Polestar on March 25th, 2022. The next day I had an issue with the charging and found that there were some defect in the paint. Both of my key fobs stopped being recognized by the vehicle. The service managed advised to disconnect the battery for a time period and reconnecting it. This worked, but then my "SOS" light stayed on and I got an error on the dashboard.

General Comments:

The Volvo XC60 Recharge Polestar is a beautiful vehicle. It had decent of performance. But the quality of the things you can't see are questionable. And these items will cost a lot to fix. Get a warranty if you feel like you have to get a Volvo. I suggest for the price, look elsewhere.

We're not quite there yet with electric cars. I'd say another 10 years or so before I'd consider one. Charging points are also not exactly common place where I live. Not to mention the big obvious diesel generators nearby to power them makes you wonder about this whole environment thing ;)

2019 Volvo XC60 Momentum T6 2.0 supercharged/turbocharged from North America

Summary:

A "B"

Faults:

New car with very low miles. No problems so far.

General Comments:

Pros:

Exterior: styling is very attractive; mag wheels are attractive; fit of exterior parts/panels is high quality.

Interior: spacious looking; leather seats are very attractive and comfortable enough; fit and finish of interior is very good; all controls are easily reached. Rear storage area is large enough.

Performance: engine accelerates quickly, very responsive; transmission shift points are logical, smooth and gentle (A+). Comfortable yet firm ride quality. Steering in normal mode is fine. I turned off lane assist. It makes the steering wheel shudder when correcting the driving path.

Cons:

Exterior: Denim Blue paint cost an extra $650. Paint has hardly any metallic in it, almost a flat blue tone. Disappointing quality, love the color. Front and rear need some amount of a bumper. The front grille is easily exposed to damage as is the radiator and engine parts right behind it. Rear hatch is similarly vulnerable to damage as it has no protection. Poor design Volvo.

Interior: The front driver's and passenger side seating are are cramped, almost like sitting in a cockpit! Seat sits below the small center console. This is NOT a vehicle for any person with a larger than average body size or height! I am average build and 5'8" tall. If I was 5'11" tall my head would be touching the headliner!

The driver needs to rest their right arm on top of a raised console or tightly at their side. Not comfy.

Seats are comfortable and supportive. Leather construction is top notch.

Center function display controls many car functions. It takes longer to operate this display and in my opinion is a hazard to do so while driving. If my wife is not the passenger I do no use the function display while driving.

We bought this mainly for my wife who likes more luxurious cars. I don't care about that and do prefer my 2014 Honda CRV. The CRV has hardly any cons vs the Volvo.
