"Wonderfully balanced screamer with supreme power, brakes, and handling"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Nothing has gone wrong with this car.

General comments?

The car has outrun Mustangs, Z28 Camaros, BMW's, and keeps up with Vettes and Porsches.

It's a blast to drive, but was too noisy when I first got it; I installed $600 worth of soundproofing to fix this problem.

A Type R fast??? HA! Yeah right! You would be lucky enough if you could even keep up an old Mustang or Camaro. Your 1/4 mile is 14.7, a Z28 hits 13.8 and GT 14.0. Nice try, but I don't think anyone would believe that you beat V-8's.

You're right, the Type-R can't even hit low 6's in 0-60 and he can outrun a Z28 that is hitting 5.3 in 0-60? It was in a dream when he outran a Vette.

Are you people stupid? A Type-R will run with all those cars. You can fix a Type-R up to get it to beat a GT and a Z28.

Acura/Honda kinda stuffed up their new generation of cars... with cheap plastic interior... cheap sound proofing system... crap dashboard design...

They aren't creating the new generation... they are paying a bunch of copy cats who get pieces of crap from different cars =P

I own an integra type are #01-1015. This car is over 3 years old and still looks and feels like it is brand new. As far as the interior being made of cheap plastic materials, I have to disagree. I will put the interior in my type are up against any mustang, camaro, or corvette. I will also destroy a stock mustang, camaro, or corvette on an auto-cross track, none of those are specialy built to be an auto-cross terror out the showroom floor. And as far as the are being slow, all I have to say is 8 versus 4. I recently put a drag turbo kit on my car and with slicks I ran a 13.02@100mph, not bad for a 4 banger.

I don't understand why people will say a z06 vette is an awesome car, but a type r isn't. It does not matter who makes the machine, if it's an awesome car, it's an awesome car, period.

OK OK OK lets put that acura type "R", any acura next to my toyota supra 1992 turbo and watch it eat some dust.

My friend has one of those and wanted to race me so bad, well after warning him time and time again that his feelings would be hurt, I had to hurt his feelings.

Acura makes nice looking car (cute) but they can't hang with the real kings of the street.

SUPRA FREAK.

Just incase you didn't know, a 92 supra turbo has around 232

bhp (basic horsepower) at the crank. Which on paper translates

to about just over 200 or less. And as for putting any acura

against your supra...yeah, I'd like to see you run whith a

nsx. And the integra with its, b18 c5 v-tec engine, 195 bhp,

0 to 60 in 6.1 sec., Quater Mile:14.5 sec.@96 mph, 8,400 rpm redline! Let me get ahold of one, and I'll whip your supra like a 4 year old at K-Mart. Acuras, are the kings of the street. Well, besides Dsm's. (LONG LIVE THE TALON!) But that's another story.

OK, there is no way stock for stock a Type R would hang with a Fourth Generation Trans Am, Camaro, or Vette. On the track is a different story, but how many people go to a track?

Also, the Z06 Vette will outperform the NSX in every element. So I guess American muscles is still king of the road untill Acura comes up with something else.

I think it's also necessary to point out that comparing a modded car to a stock one isn't exactly fair. Sure you can fix up a Type R to hang with the V8's, but put the same amount into the V8's that you put into your Type R and there's no way the type R will keep up.

As a type are owner I'm proud to say that I have beaten camros and mustangs and firebirds, mine is stock, I also autocross my car were I have beaten nsx's and the american cars that show up out there.

But I have also lost races to camaros and mustangs, it has a lot to do with the driver

you shouldn't hate on other cars because they are slower then yours you should have a mutual respect for all cars, I love my type are and wouldn't trade it for anything, but you can't replace the sound of a v8.

I have a 2001 type r and I too will hang with or beat a camaro, or mustang. I know this for a fact because I sold a '96 cobra to get my type r. my type r is way better built than my cobra was. I also hung with a '01 supercharged saleen. So plain and simple American cars suck.

Just ran a souped type r with my wife's '05 g35. 280hp + auto/stick. he hung around until 70's mph, but couldn't any longer.

I agree that a type-R can hang with the best of them, especially being one of the best handling front-wheel drive cars out. Consider this: type-R-1.8 liters

Mustang GT-4.6 liters

This "little" car can hang and beat the mustang. "Work smarter, not harder."

108 hp / liter, 8400 rpm redline, 14.5 sec ET 1/4 mile, can corner well, LSD, WILL give Mustangs and Camaro's a run for their money... all of that AND 30mpg, what do the muscle cars get? 10-15mpg?

Type R.

I agree with that comment. First, a mustang does the 1/4 mile in 14.2 sec not 14, and the type r does it in 14.5, not 14.7. Also, the type r handles a lot better than a mustang or a z28, gets better gas mileage, and will last a whole lot longer too. I am not saying I don't like muscle cars, but all around performance and realiability, I would have to go with the type R.
