2005 Acura TSX from North America

Summary:

Very good, but not perfect

Faults:

Takes one pint of oil per 1000 km. Dealer says it's normal.

Rattles of some loose plastic parts in the cabin (corrected with tape and glue).

When new, one of the main speakers - the one in the right door - was not plugged, the loose wire was rattling in the door.

Exterior paint quality is very average, scratches very easily and loses its luster.

General Comments:

The car is very comfortable, and the interior feels luxurious.

The sixth speed allows for reasonable fuel economy on highway. Definitively not a performance car.

Wish to keep it for another five years.

I'm sorry, but burning a pint of oil every 1000 kms is not normal for an engine. Not a good sign..

Maybe on an older car with very high mileage, but not on something this new. You are being misled.

This is a bad problem, and your dealer should admit responsibility. Just my advice.

Per J. D. Power, 62% of Honda/Acura and Ford owners remain with their brand. No other brand does better.

2005 Acura TSX from North America

Summary:

Very reliable

Faults:

Alignment at about 50,000kms.

General Comments:

I got this car used at 25,000kms from an Acura dealership, and have been very impressed with its reliability.

I am a real estate agent, so I drive a lot (usually over 150kms/day), and so far I have done nothing except brakes and regular oil changes.

The car is good on gas, my back doesn't hurt at the end of the day, and the shifting is still very smooth. Every little button still works.

Only cons: not the fastest car out there, the sound system could be better.

2005 Acura TSX 5AT 2.4L DOHC I-VTEC from North America

Summary:

Excellent Sport Sedan

Faults:

- Driver Side Window use to Squeak (fixed by dealer)

- Front Rotors warped (Refinished @ 25000km under warranty)

- Rear Rotors warped due to malfunction in rear brake calipers. Pad seized within caliper. Rotor refinished and rear pads replaced under warranty.

- Driver seat shifts/moves during hard turns.

- OEM All-season tires needed to be replaced with winter tires & rims. (they are more spring/summer/fall tires - terrible on ice)

General Comments:

The car is quick, but not TL "fast". All of it's power is felt @ 6600 RPM when VTEC kicks in. The car performs beautifully on the highway, smooth and responds well. The engine is smooth as silk, and so is the 5AT transmission.

My fuel economy is on par with EPA ratings. Best recorded highway 7.8L/100km best recorded city 10.5L/100Km. These vary depending on my driving habits.

The interior and leather is superb, I've got the leather and rust protection to keep everything looking new. The premium white colour looks sharp and so do the 17' satin silver rims. I believe it to be one of the best looking sedans on the road.

So far no complaints with the 3 dealerships I've visited, they were quick to respond to my concerns. I have no major issues with this car or my service, which was quite the opposite with my previous Honda Civic.

I now have 75,000kms on this car. It still runs very well. I replaced the front pads and rotors.. not because they were used up.. but because they are prone to warping. I went with aftermarket rotors and high performance pads all around. I hope this will fix the issue.

Fuel economy is in the 10.4l/100kms range on average. I wish it were better, but not bad for a high-strung 4 cylinder that has to lug a mid-size sedan around and output 200hp.

I've had two warranty issues addressed by Acura. One was a tiny paint bubble on my hood (they repainted my hood & fenders), and the other was condensation in my headlights - replaced at 50,000kms.
