1970 AMC AMX Big Bad Orange (BBO) 390 from North America

Faults:

Nothing, the car runs just fine.

General Comments:

American Motors Corp had a real winner with this car It runs great and has looks that are still up to date thirty three years after it was built.

The interior is very nice and the high back bucket seats are very comfortable.

The best part of owning this car is that you do not see your self coming and going as you drive it around town.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

I have a black 69 AMX, and they are wonderful cars. The only problems I have ever had with my car is that pieces that break on the interior are almost impossible to find in good condition. I have had more fun with this car than with my 69 corvette, 65 GTO, and my 93 Rx7. It is quick on its feet and turns well for the peiod. The best part is all the questions of what is that and so forth. If you can afford one buy one, but make sure the body is in decent condition as patch panels are fairly hard to get.

I had a 70 also, only problem I had was the heater core. Fastest in G.R. in the mid 70's. After I sold it I found out why. Someone worked the heads over. Wish I could find that car.

To the gentleman commenting about interior parts: I just wrote an Aussie tonight about how technology has advanced, and I only wished that a fraction of the reproduction items available in 2010 were around in 1980s, as would not have seen so much rampant cannibalism on AMX & Javelin! There are many items as a vendor, I never thought would be made, but have been in last say, 10 years. At one time there was about 5-8 major AMC vendors, now I have over 100 of them in my Planet Houston Vendors list.

I have owned about 150 two seaters, and 361 AMCs since getting driver license in 1976, and have owned nothing BUT the great cars AMC made since then, no imports, no trucks, brand x, nothing, and drive AMC DAILY in Houston, Texas, some, like 2 Eagles I have over 200,000 miles on them, a 72 Ambassador SST has 154K, convertible Machine 127K, and so on.

To the fellow who sold his car long ago, it is good time to buy with economy in toilet; lots of great buys, someone posted a low miler 70 AMX on my AMC Classified just tonight for $19K.

So happy hunting, and have fun with these cars, it is a good time to be a AMC fan. Eddie Stakes planethoustonamx.com
