1977 AMC Gremlin X 258 from North America

Summary:

The Gremlin is a fun, fairly economical collector car

Faults:

The car had been sitting idle for several years and the engine was locked up. Interior was sun damaged from the central California sun. I replaced the engine with a low mileage engine from an AMC Hornet and buffed out the paint, replaced the brakes, and refurbished the interior.

General Comments:

After the repairs, the car ran well and was very dependable. It had plenty of pickup for a six and is/was fun to drive. I drove the car fairly regularly on a 60 mile round trip commute to work. It cornered well.

It did have rattles because of the exposed metal especially in the rear quarters. The seats were comfortable for short drives, but they did promote some fatigue on longer drives.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes
