1992 Audi 100 CS Quattro 6 cylinder from North America

Summary:

Saved my Daughters Life. Thank you AUDI!

Faults:

New A/C Fan Motor.

General Comments:

I purchased this car for my Daughter to go to and from School and work. I did normal service on it and found it to be a very comfortable car. I have nothing, but good to say about this car because I feel that it saved my Daughters life. My Daughter had a car pull in front of her and she hit the other car in the side doing 50 MPH. The cars crush zones performed exactly as they were designed. The inside of the car protected my Daughter and she walked away from this accident. The one part of the story I need to tell at this point was she was not wearing a seat belt. I feel that the airbag and design of this car saved her life. I found it to be a great car even if you took out my comments about the accident.

1992 Audi 100 S 2.8 from North America

This vehicle has better fit and finish than any Japan import of the same year.

Faults:

To date there have really been no issues, other than routine maintenance.

General Comments:

This vehicle is very capable on a long trip.

The body lines and design have aged well and do not look dated.

1992 Audi 100 E 2.0 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

A fantastic quality car, ahead of it's time

Faults:

Not a great deal!!

Considering the mileage, the head gasket and rear shocks were replaced recently.

A 13 year service history has revealed no problems at all!.

General Comments:

This car is nearly 14 years old.

A real bargain at £750.00 for a car which is solidly built, very reliable, comfortable and quiet.

Still looks fresh today, loaded with all the creature comforts and safety features you could imagine- and they all still work!

Handles very well for a large heavy estate altough the ride is on the firm side and the steering light.

No rust at all or any indication of body trouble.

Even though only powered by a 2.0 litre, progress is more than adequate and provides relaxed and effortless motorway driving.

Interior still looking as new, considering I am the fifth owner, speaks volumes for Audi's build and material quality.

Returns well over 35mpg on average.

A fantastic car, well ahead of it's time.

Looks, feels and drives as if it was made yesterday... and will probably be about for a least another ten years.

If you want an executive car which still looks impressive today, delivers the majority of your driving expectations. is quick, comfortable, holds the entire family with room for a brass band and wears an Audi badge... look no further!!!.

1992 Audi 100 S coupe 2.7 Liter from North America

Summary:

A most wonderful driving experience!

Faults:

The catalytic converters were changed.

The front brake pads and front rotors were replaced.

The front struts were replaced.

The steering line was changed.

Changed the Timing belt and other parts associated with the timing belt.

Changed the fan belt.

General Comments:

The car is a bit slow off the start, but when it gets going, it's gone. The handling on the car is superb, allowing maximum amount of comfort and trust in the cars performance and dependability. It truly is a luxury car that doesn't receive the recognition it deserves. The sport feature button really makes this car worth having. It's the perfect blend between a comfortable family sedan, a sports car and personal luxury vehicle. Wonderful trunk and passenger space. All in all, it's just a great car!

Not bad from a stop acceleration. Really can move at high speeds. Great cornering allowing for a sporty ride and a Sunday trip to the store with the family. Great fun car!

I will maintain the comment regarding off-the-line acceleration. Even with my 5-speed model a quick start requires more drama than I'd be experiencing in many cars, including similarly-sized Saab 9000 models. In gear, however, it's quite the luxo-cruiser.

1992 Audi 100 E 2.3 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Safe and Solid Motor Car

Faults:

Door locks on both front doors have given trouble. A new locking mechanism was fitted.

The Brake discs were very worn on the car, although accepting its high mileage did not feel too bad having to replace them.

General Comments:

A Very Safe and solidly built car.

These cars are fairly simply built, for example the engine is a traditional single over-head cam design. The thing is they are built well.

Not too hard on fuel, though performance could be better. The Audi 100 is a seriously heavy car for a 2.3 Engine to haul around.

The body is galvanised, so although the car is 10 years old It has no rust at all, and never will have!

Parts are fairly cheap as there are numerous specialists in pattern replacements.

The car is fitted with a Procon 10 safety system which actually pulls the steering wheel into the dashboard in the event of an accident. To me this sounds better than having an explosive airbag in front of your face.

Equipment levels are nothing adventurous, though the car does have the usual electric windows, mirrors, sunroof, central locking and ABS.

1992 Audi 100 CS 2.8 V6 gasoline from North America

Summary:

A nice-looking luxury cruiser

Faults:

Catalytic converter is gone. Did not buy the new one because they cost around $400. Just bypassed with a straight pipe.

An oil leak that apparently all Audis have.

General Comments:

Nice, safe long-distance cruiser. Definitely worth the money. Performance could be better though.

1992 Audi 100 Avant Quattro 2.8 V6 from UK and Ireland

Faults:

New ECU, expensive (£1000) - paid by warranty.

New knock sensors, cars torque delivery under full throttle varied - performance now much better.

Engine very smooth but not fussed about being above 4500rpm.

Excellent high speed cruiser - and fast 'A' road car.

New power steering pump - leaked badly.

Aome new hydraulic tappets changed - rattled prior on warm start up.

Not changed exhaust yet, Audi system approx £1500, but fortunately as this car was registered prior to CATS becomming legal I can remove them (2 off) and save a considerable amount of money.

Car has full VAG history.

General Comments:

Generally not as reliable as I would have thought, although some problems were obviously down to the previous owner not bothering.

I would have preferrred the engine to develop more torque lower down, the S4 would provide that but spares for those are even more expensive than for this one.

1992 Audi 100 Quattro 2.8 V6 petrol from UK and Ireland

Faults:

Engine head had a small gap, so needed to be replaced... but this was perhaps due to previous owners mistakes.

General Comments:

Really good car! Fun to drive - it's fast and comfortable, and Quattro makes it an ideal car in bad weather...
