1986 Audi 200 Q/T 2.1 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Great!

Faults:

Off the road a year, would not start?? Went to 4 garages to get sorted. All Audi specialists. Results were poor wiring. Also, the last garage had to put right the other garage's mess they left. Now running OK.

General Comments:

Car handles well, is quite quick, and was well made back then.

Very expensive in 1986.

Parts are hard to come by. But they are still out there.

A car that is very rare. A car that was well advanced.

The car was painted in 2004 Tornado Red.

All parts replaced over the years: 17" alloys, new discs, new calipers, all new brake pipes, all stainless exhaust, upgrade on lights, plus so much more.

1986 Audi 200 Turbo 2,1 2.1 from Denmark

Summary:

A masterpiece

Faults:

At 150000 km, the rack and pinion steering system leaked rather a lot of oil, and had to be changed.

At 160000, the exhaust had to be changed.

The air-condition system has never worked.

The central locking system could be better.

General Comments:

This car is still very quick, and behaves like I think it did when it was new.

1986 Audi 200 Turbo 2.2i from Germany

Summary:

A fast, luxurious timeless good car!

Faults:

- Leaking problems (servo oil).

- Front-tires and brakes do not last long.

- Temperature problems.

- Inside lamps and instruments sometimes do not work properly.

General Comments:

- There are NO starting-problems, unless you do it right (gas-pedal half down, when starting the cold AND the warm engine!!!), otherwise it won't work good.

- GREAT car: fast, smooth, secure, power everything!

- Electronic climate control is a must because it's getting hot inside in summer.

1986 Audi 200 Quattro 2.2 turbo from Poland

Summary:

Audi 200 Quattro is a stunning car

Faults:

I have got a problem with ABS. It doesn't work since I got it, and the service is not able to sort it out. They say it is a problem with the brake fluid compresser, but can't specify what causes that problem.

In fact the ABS is working as conventional braking system.

General Comments:

It is a very fine car, but not very many people out there in service garages can deal with that rather old model.

I live in Canada and own a 1987 Audi 5000 Turbo quattro and have never experienced cold start problems even at -30C degrees. The vehicle still amazes me even with 216,000 km on the clock. Other than regular parts replacement, ie.brakes, spark plugs, tires and shocks this is the most dependable automobile I have ever owned (I have owned 36 previous to this- all makes). The quattro is unbelievable in winter snowstorm conditions, even with all season tires! I think of the Audi not as an OLD car but an EXPERIENCED car!!! There is no question as to what my next vehicle will be!!!

The Audi 200 four wheel drive turbo is an amazing car with the four wheel driving working perfectly. It has a small problem with acceleration. Its acceleration is slow, but when it reaches a 100 kph, it blows away everything in its way. It has a problem with its electricity, but everything else works perfectly. It is one of the best sedans ever, with maximum reliability, control and comfort.
