2000 Birkin S3 Super 7 2.0 Zetec Dunnell from North America

Summary:

Get your own

Faults:

Lower A arms bent from too many potholes and agressive street driving.

Wiring shorts from poor original harness.

General Comments:

Most fun I've had with my... well you know the rest.

Unbelieveable performance, unlike my GT6 the bolts come apart when they need to and the brakes don't fade.

Quick, 1250 lbs, 230hp, sticks, brakes and makes $60K+ cars look like a melted piece of lead on the track.

A great modern version of Chapman's original with reliability and even greater performance.

2001 Birkin S3 1965 Lotus 7 Replica 2.0 Zetec from North America

Summary:

One word: WOW!

Faults:

Headlight circuit blows fuses - well, I just drive it in the daytime; however, I would like them to work!

General Comments:

WOW! This car is a rocket with about 1250 pound curb weight and a warmed over 2.0 liter Zetec, it is seriously quick.

The handling is out of this world. Drives like a race car, rides like a race car, it is a race car with street equipment.

Not my only car, thank God! I have a C3500 truck for hauling and a 1948 MG TC for its looks. Had a 2000 Volkswagen Passat 4-Motion until it got totalled out in a freak hailstorm about a month ago. Hope to replace the Passat with a Miata so I will have to choose between three of the greatest sportcars in the world.

The wiring on 2000-2001 year Birkins is truly abysmal. I believe that they improved the wiring from the 2002 model year onwards. If you have a year 2000 Birkin, do like I did. Rip out the wiring, and install a custom Painless Wiring harness.

The car, though, is fantastic. How many other vehicles can you get for <$30K that will run with a Porsche 911 on the racetrack?
