I have a 1995 328i. So far has been reliable and is pretty quick as well. The 1995cc is not a massively powerful engine. Better off with the 325 or 328.

I have a 318is M42B18 coupe (e36), with 103kw/140HP.. so far so good.

I have a sport air filter (saves time and money - adds extra horses) and I have a new ECU chip that adds about 20+ HP and makes the car easy on fuel economy.

For a 1795cc engine, it's pretty quick and awesome to handle, I love this car.

Have had it for 3 years now, and I had a 316 (e36 too) before it. I love BMW, will never sell or change. All you have to do is "buy with a service history", take good care of your car and it will take good care of you. BMW is very reliable car.

You should not use a tap water for radiators or even for wipers, you should use that special water and nothing will crack and you will not change anything.

The normal auto service is a pretty easy DIY job. everything is so easy to change.

Asian cars are very reliable, I had a 323/Protege, and I have a Miata/MX-5 Mk1 for summer, very good car, but it's Asian after all (cheap plastic).

BMW is a pleasure to drive, it's sex on wheels.

Any vehicle poorly maintained can ruin you financially - I've had a poorly maintained 323i E30, but with little investment and care, it served me quite well until a fatal accident.

Most drivers tend to ignore servicing and needs of cars, & they should not be abused like in Formula 1.

I also have a Hyundai 1.5, and it's quite fast, but I don't think faster than a BMW with 1.8 litre engine. Something must be missing from the Bimmer if it's sluggish.
