Faults:

Has a minor oil leak, nothing serious.

Electronic parking brake needed attention after error warning, not too expensive to fix.

Leather starting to wear.

General Comments:

Bright white 2015 5 series, love this car. Rare manual transmission - most of these cars are automatics. I like this best however - very fun to drive and economical at the same time. I regularly get over 50 mpg without trying, for a large saloon this is impressive.

520d M Sport model has black leather and all electrics. For a 2015 car it feels ahead of its time. All modern features and they work as they should even after a decade.

Good looking exterior. I had always liked the 5 series looks, yes even that E60 model that came out in 2003 that shocked the world. Well this 2010 introduced F10 5 series is again great looking when you really look at it from all angles.

Boot space is huge, comfort is good.

Looking to buy one yourself? I highly recommend you do not touch any car without history. These need attentive maintenance to avoid expensive problems. Otherwise the car is OK to run - good MPG, insurance isn't too bad, and nice examples of this age can be had for around seven grand or less. Expensive for a car that is a decade old, but worth it for a low mileage nice example.

General Comments:

Less cabin space than the Renault Megane.

Not quite as quiet as the old Saab 9000 Turbos, but I guess that is petrol v diesel.

Screen functions need some time to get used to.

ECO pro function seems to optimise gear change revs (shows a heavy foot warning light if you accelerate too quickly), reduce A/C fan speed, regenerates electricity on the over run, has the capability to cut fuel and disconnect the gearbox on down hill stretches (coasting), reduces the intensity of lights in built up areas, auto stop start function etc. It certainly seems to work - a display shows you km gained and my average consumption has come down.

Electric tailgate is useful.

Seems to be a good (and relatively economic) cruising car using cruise control.

The auto A/C setting starts with a ferocious icy blast. That may be because of temps 33C to 38C whilst I've had it.

The parking radars are good, but it would have been nice to have had cameras, particularly as they come as standard in cars like the Toyota Aygo.

One year old ex demo, 11000 km, saves around €23000 off the new price.
