1980 BMW 5 Series 525 review from North America
"Great older beemer - great quality"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
So far so good - very little work. The air conditioner is out and needs serviced. Some little things like the horn and cabin lights were out - very easy to repair. Mechanically, it has been great.
General comments?
The car is great and turns on a dime. It has the feel that you expect from a BMW - and even with it's age the mechanical reliability is incredible. Nothing leaks - runs like a dream.
The seats are incredible uncomfortable and need recovered. I really like the layout of the cabin - there is a good amount of room without the feeling of driving a "land yacht". You feel the road under you, but at the same time glide in comfort.
It is very easy to get to different components to work on the car. It is engineered in a way that makes since - we needed to replace the heater blower fan and the disassembly was very easy. It seems that most parts of the car are like this.
