1987 BMW M3 E30 2.3 Four Cylinder 16v from UK and Ireland

Summary:

A 'balls-out' Touring car with electric windows and air-con, unbeatable!

Faults:

Water pump blew just after I got it.

The car was 'missing' on idle, this turned out to be the intake manifold gaskets.

Front and rear disc's & pads needed replacing.

Rear sub-frame bushes, had all perished (common on E30's).

Gear shifter linkage had become 'slack'.

Front seat frames had collapsed, (again common on the E30's).

Fuel lines had perished, causing irregular performance.

General Comments:

The car was great to drive even in it's 'neglected' state.

Driver cockpit is an ergonomic delight - everything is were it should be.

Rust is not a problem on these cars - given their age.

Always take it to a specialist with some history, for servicing and major repairs - to guarantee it at it's best!

The 'four pot' screams to the red line and is smooth all the way there.

I recommend the use of 'Pagid Fast Road' pads as they don't warp of fade anywhere as much as the OE.

Good examples are becoming VERY hard to find, so look after yours!
