2013 BMW Mini Countryman Cooper SD 2.0 turbo diesel from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Tougher than it looks

Faults:

Rear light cluster short circuit.

General Comments:

Basically a boutique X1. Cute impractical styling disguises a tough as old boots SUV.

Interior feels joyless in black despite the steampunk dials.

Seats are too small for this six footer to get properly comfortable in.

Interior trim plastics are scratchy and brittle, far below usual BMW quality

As a whole it feels well assembled. Carries its age and 90k miles as well as any car I have ever driven. Steering, gear change are tight and slop free. Suspension similar.

Engine is a very tractable diesel, with fine performance and economy, despite a reputation for unreliability...

Overall this is a stylish, idiosyncratic suv.
