2008 BMW X5 3.0 from North America

Summary:

Disappointing ownership experience

Faults:

At 2,000 miles a crackling popping noise was resonating through dash board. Diagnosed as a defective defroster duct. Car spent 2 weeks in the shop due to the dealer melting the VIN plate trying to remove it. Dash board has had a slight dip in it ever since. In cold weather dash still creeks and pops. Told this just happens with the X5 due to the amount of plastic used.

Rear sear assembly rattles constantly. Told this just happens due to the seat engineering.

Right rear squeal is evident daily. BMW techs cannot reproduce the noise after 3 attempts. The high pitched noise makes me cringe.

General Comments:

This vehicle has been a disappointment from day one. The car is beautiful to look at, and the technology package is a nice feature for business. Other than that the X5 has no redeeming value. The dealership and BMW of North America have been less than competent in resolving issues.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No
