1999 Buick Century review from North America
"Great car - has been fairly reliable!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I replaced the tires, and also had to replace the transmission at about 214000 miles.
General comments?
This car has been nothing but great! It's comfortable and rides nice.
The transmission on the car went out at 214000 miles, and I replaced it for 125.00 for a used one plus labor. I used a shade-tree mechanic and total cost was $450.00!
This car makes lifter noise when you first start it, but once she warms up she's just fine. That 3.1 burns virtually NO oil! I have let the oil go to 5000 miles without changing (Shame on me!) and have not had to add any oil!
This is probably the most comfortable car I have ever driven. Seats are great and the stereo has fantastic sound quality!
The car has been very reliable and has started in the harshest of climates! (-20 below and blowing wind!)
I received this car for free from a relative, who was frustrated that the dealership wouldn't give her anything for the car due to the high miles - the price was right!
