Why can't the USA still build cars like this?
Faults:
U-joint.
Transmission seals.
Brake rotors.
Shocks.
Water pump.
General Comments:
Looks classic and aggressive, has gobs of power, and has enough sheetmetal to allow several Camrys and Accords to bounce off the doors and fenders without disturbing the passengers.
Very reliable for its ancient age, and comfortable. Has room for 5 AMERICAN, or 8 Japanese adults. (one of the rare mid 70's GM cars with a floor shift console).
Loves to drink that gas, burns maybe a half-pint of oil every 3000 miles, if that. Last year before GM installed the god-awful catalytic converters on all its engines.
I don't drive this barge in winter, for fear that the road salt will have a buffet on my paint and sheetmetal.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

My first car was a 1974 Buick Regal, and to this day I still think it was the best car that I ever owned, and I really do miss it.

I owned a 1974 Buick Regal. The car was loaded from the factory. It had a 455 cubic inch engine with a four barrel carb., dual exhaust, all power and factory mags. I bought it in November of 1975 from an individual who was looking for better gas mileage. I think the car listed for about $6200. I paid $3775 for it with 16,000 miles on it. It was the best car I ever bought for the money. I drove it all through my college years and it never gave me any mechanical trouble. I sold it with about 90,000 miles on it. The only problem that I had with it was some rust on the trunk lid. I wish they still made them like that.

I am a one owner of a 76 Regal, I've owned the car since June of 76 (30yrs.).I am in the process of restoring it, it's the best car I ever owned.

I own several of the mid 70"s Buick Century/Regals and I am glad to see someone else enjoys these cars.
