1990 Buick Riviera 3.8 from North America

Summary:

Bought another 1990!

Faults:

I replaced the shock/struts at 50,000 miles.

I Replaced the Coil Pack at 80,000 miles.

I have replaced the water pump twice.

I have replaced the Harmonic Balancer at 75,000 Miles.

Lost this car from tree falling on it during a hurricane.

General Comments:

I would be surpised if anyone has any real problem with this car. I replaced the 15" wheels (and OEM shocks) with 16" aftermarket types. It has been a gem. I have lived on the ocean since purchasing this car and have made sure that all electrical connections were "greased" to prevent corrosion. It has never let me down. Each "major" mechanical repair started with a telltale symptom, not a complete failure. I finally lost this car from tree falling on it during a hurricane. Although I am in a position to purchase nearly any other automobile, I bought another 1990 Riviera with 50,000 miles!

Do you still have this Buick? I am looking for a transmission for a 1990 Buick Riviera with a 3800 v6 engine and auto tranny with od. excellent car, but only goes in reverse.

1990 Buick Riviera 3.8L V6 from North America

Summary:

The best car I have ever driven!!!

Faults:

Until recently, nothing other than regular maintnance such as brakes, and tires has gone wrong with the car. There has been an occasional belt, hose, or water pump, and I did replace a couple of engine mounts.

Now that it has over 260,000 miles on it, the engine and transmission are starting to have some problems and may need rebuilding.

General Comments:

This is my first car and is old as dirt by today's standards. Now that I have plenty of money to buy a new car, I can't seem to find anything that drives as well.

I really like the digital instrument panel.

I bought I this car and absolutely LOVE it!! It is extremely comfortable and classy. I do have to sell it unfortunately because its too hard to get kids in and out since its only a 2 door : (But I agree with all of you whom have commented greatly on this 90 Buick it is definitely one of a kind!!
