1970 Buick Skylark GS Stage 1 455cid from North America

Summary:

The BEST car ever built!

Faults:

Head gaskets started leaking at 130,000.

Alternator and starter went out within a week after that.

General Comments:

250,000+ miles and will still run 13.6 quarters... STOCK!

My first car and I still have it. The engine is finally getting tired and the rear main is starting to go. The GS is still a total blast to drive and I will drive it anywhere. I only wish anybody could build a car half as reliable as this Stage 1.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

I agree completely. I have a 4 speed model. I have done various performance mods resulting in 541 hp at the wheels, 12.00's at the track, and I still get 13 mpg on the highway.

It is one of 4 Buicks that I currently own, and I love it.

I used to own a 1970 Stage 1 and they are awesome performers; feared on the streets by those who knew of them. Those who didn't soon learned the hard way. This had to be the greatest muscle car ever, and I often wonder why GM never put more into advertising them. I'm currently looking for another to replace the one I sold so many years ago.

My 1970 skylark, competed with and won a street race with a 68 vette. I shut that showy little piece down cold, and shut its owners comments up regarding my so called "family car"

Never irritate a female who is proud of her first car.

I owned a green 1970 Skylark, the first car I ever bought on my own.

I kept getting comments from this girl, about my age, about her vette and its speed, and she pushed my buttons one too many times.

On a back street here (I live in a small rural farming community) I not only beat that 68 vette, I shut it down cold.

Never insult a woman and her first car she's bought on her own.
