1991 Chevrolet Beretta GT 3.1 Multi Port Fuel Injected V6 from North America

Summary:

A fast, sporty, reliable and cheap to maintain

Faults:

Basic maintenance, brakes, tires, oil, other fluids.

Air Conditioner needs new vacuum pumps at 65,000 miles.

General Comments:

A really quick car, handles great, and I always get good comments on it.

I've added many modifications though, intake and exhaust, two red racing stripes, custom rims and a two inch drop, along with a body kit.

1991 Chevrolet Beretta GT from North America

Summary:

Fun and Quick to Falling Apart

Faults:

Had to repair brakes & rotors twice.

Wiper motor failed.

Left turn signal failed.

Cruise control failed.

Water pump died on summer trip through New Mexico.

Rust and moisture in & around transparent plastic moldings on rear end.

Gas cap cover rusted through completely.

Interior of both doors began to fall off.

Driver side door sagged and eventually ceased to open.

Ignition jammed & would not accept key, but would start when turned. Eventually the car would not turn off.

Interior trunk release failed.

Eventually the computer went bad, I was told, and the car would often stall and not start for sometimes hours.

Driver side chair bolts broke/rusted off.

General Comments:

When I first bought the car, it ran great. Had low miles and new work. I changed the oil regularly. I tried to keep up with body/mechanical work, but it seemed as if one thing would happen after another. The car, in my opinion, was rather expensive to run. However, at first it was fairly reliable in these cold and dangerous North American winters. In it's defense I did A LOT of long distance driving.

1991 Chevrolet Beretta GT 3.1L V6 from North America

Summary:

Sporty, Fun, Reliable, all in all... a wonderful car

Faults:

AC High Pressure hose had a crack in it ($600.00)

General Comments:

I bought this car used, and with my parent's luck with used car, I was expecting the worst, but this car has given me nothing, but fun times.

Over the past 3 years of owning the vehicle, all I have had to replace is are the brakes, from wearing them out, and the AC High pressure hose, due to a crack that appeared over the winter.

I am overall very impressed by both the room this car allows all it's passengers (front and back), as well it's capacity in carrying more than a normal sports vehicle.

I find myself very attached to the vehicle, and can't picture my daily life without it, as it is a very reliable vehicle.

1991 Chevrolet Beretta GT 3.1 MPI V6 from North America

Summary:

Most Reliable, with lots of torque

Faults:

This car is great. I was iffy about buying another used car, as I had nothing but problems with my previous car. I bought the car for $3000 Canadian.

The car is very quick, especially when you add a performance exhaust and air intake.

I replaced the alternator twice (due to stereo)

Transmission and clutch

Water pump once.

Rad three time in one year.

The driver seat has started to wear and tear.

Replaced passenger side ball joint

Change oil every 5000 km or less

VERY RELIABLE

Still has all original parts with the exceptions to items listed on top.

General Comments:

This car handles great, has tons of power, especially with the standard trans. It gets great gas mileage if all highway, I have achieved 750+ km on a full tank with 4 people and luggage.

I love this car. Chevy did not know what they were getting rid of when this model was discontinued. If Chevy was still making this car I would buy another one... hands down.

2 water pumps.

2 alternators.

All hoses.

Heater core at about 190,000 miles.

Some gizmo that helps the transmission downshift.

General Comments:

I absolutely loved (R.I.P) this car, it was very comfortable, economical and sporty.

1991 Chevrolet Beretta 3.1L MPFI from North America

Summary:

Affordable car for a patient owner

Faults:

Front and back brakes have been replaced including rotors, drums, and wheel cylinders.

2 remanufactured master cylinders, 1 new one.

2 new starters (1 under warranty)

New heater core and lines.

New exhaust (silver knight, cheap ones rotted off in a couple of months)

New ignition control mod.

New E.G.R valve.

General Comments:

Out of all the repairs I have put into the car, stock parts were never put back in. therefore my upkeep costs are slightly higher (40-60%).

Instead of the 160hp @ 4800rpm I now have 182hp @ 4300rpm which makes for fast light to light races.
