1992 Chevrolet Blazer S-10 Tahoe 4.3L High Output from North America

Summary:

Wouldn't think of trading it in, just drive it till it dies

Faults:

Gas Tank Leaked.

AC Evaporator.

Clear coat on the 5 spoke wheels is peeling off.

Fender flares cause rust.

General Comments:

I like it better than the new ones.

Love the 4-wheel drive...It's got me out of trouble quite a few times already.

Lots of power compared to the normal 4.3L.

Wish it could have had premium sound and a rear wiper.

1992 Chevrolet Blazer GTZ 2.3L Quad 4 from North America

Summary:

An everyday driver with performance and comfort to boot

Faults:

My engine blew when I got the car.

The driver seat is wearing on the left side.

A little bit of rust on rear passenger side.

The exhaust broke at the catalytic converter.

General Comments:

This car gets to you, it's like a bottle of wine, the longer you have it, the better it tastes. Every time you look at it and see the potential to this car, you want to keep it. Even though the engine isn't the best idea GM has come up with, it's still all around a good car!

Be sure to change the oil at least every 5000km's, the engine will definitely last longer.

1992 Chevrolet Blazer S10 4.3 Vortech from North America

Summary:

I paid for a S10 Blazer and got a boat. Just a hole with a shell around it to throw money into

Faults:

EGR valve gets stopped up 2 times a year and cost around $300 to clear the carbon.

Very hard to start and smokes when started for the first 10 seconds. Valve seals went bad.

Had to have complete fuel injection replaced. Runs great for 2 days then runs terrible for 2 days. The solution, drive it 2 days then take 2 days off work.

General Comments:

The 4 wheel drive has surprised me when 4 lo got me out of deep sand. Got stuck in 4 hi. Pulled a lot of people out of ditches during a major ice storm and never spun a wheel. I think my mechanic owns it because he has it more than I do. I've spent over $2,000 on repairs in the past 2 years and nothing has changed. I've been to several garages and the same thing.

Save yourself some money and buy a V8 ford. The extra fuel is cheaper than the repairs.

I own a 1991 blazer and it smokes for some unknown reason. The compression is good, the valve seals are new, and I am not losing any coolant (head gaskets). If anyone has an idea email me at rec032555@alltel.net.

1992 Chevrolet Blazer S-10 4.3L V-6 from North America

Summary:

Solid and reliable... if only it had power!

Faults:

The anti-lock brake system died about 1 month after purchase. Since I didn't want to pay $900 for a new EHCU Computer, I've lived with the brake warning light on for the last 4 years (and no ABS).

U-Joints replaced. I've done a fair amount of 4-wheeling in the mountains, so this could likely be considered normal wear and tear.

Front door bushing and pin. At first I thought this was an anomaly when the driver's door bushings wore down and the door wouldn't close properly. However, the passenger's side door is now doing the same thing! A small nuisance, but very hard to fix without special tools.

Currently, I have a small electrical problem that I haven't yet diagnosed. The lights seem to "flutter" on the dash, dome, and headlights. This power fluctuation also causes the blower motor to "squeal."

General Comments:

This vehicle has never had sufficient power. I find myself praying that I can get up to speed when entering an on-ramp for the Interstate.

However, (other than the ABS), the vehicle has been incredibly reliable! Very minor repairs. Starts every time and runs smoothly.

This vehicle is not a luxury ride. The seats are uncomfortable, and when the wind blows, you can feel it through the doors (all four!), but then again, it IS a 4-wheel drive SUV.

1992 Chevrolet Blazer S10 4.3 liter from North America

Faults:

No problems - just standard maintenance and wear.

General Comments:

I love my car -- especially good pick-up and manoeuvrability. I would buy another Blazer but would buy 4 door and front wheel drive.
