Summary:

Haulin ass and drinkin gas!

Faults:

Have had no major problem to speak of.

There are little leaks on driveway, but cannot find leak.

Catalytic converter @102000

Leather buckets are starting to show some wear. etc.. little tears, burns.

Track for passenger seat is either bent or there is a bolt coming loose.

General Comments:

Has enough power to snap your neck

Some getting used to if coming off driving something smaller and doesnt have 33 inch tires

I just got my 1500. it was sitting in my yard all summer, went to drive it, and the brake line started leaking. the cab corners are completely rotted. it has a lot of power, bald tires, and an 8 foot plow. I'm happy with it, except for the fact I can't drive because I won't be able to stop...

1996 Chevrolet C1500 5.7L from North America

Summary:

A high performance wage eliminator

Faults:

30000 KM intake gaskets leaking.

32000 KM valve cover gaskets leaking.

40000 KM rear differential blew up. Replaced with a new unit.

45000 KM automatic transmission torque converter seized up. Replaced torque converter.

49000 KM engine developed a knocking sound. Had to replace main bearings.

53000 KM brakes wore out. Replaced pads and rotors.

55000 KM rear differential developed a howling noise. Had to replace gears and bearings.

68000 KM engine seized up. Replaced engine.

70000 Km transmission started to slip, had to replace unit.

74000 KM engine again developed knock noise. Had to replace pistons.

79000 Km rear differential again blew up. Had to replace whole unit.

General Comments:

This truck was the biggest piece of junk I ever owned. Fortunately I had warranty coverage to 80,000 KM. After replaeing the rear differential at 79,000 Km, I traded the truck in at the local GM dealer and bought a used Mazda truck off the lot.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

You certainly had a bad experience with that truck. I owned a C1500 from the same year with the 350 engine and never had a problem with it apart from needing a replacement alternator, otherwise it was extremely reliable. Luck of the draw whether you end up with a good one I would guess.
