1997 Chevrolet Malibu 3.1 V6 from North America

Summary:

Great, well handling and running vehicle

Faults:

The only thing I really have to comment on things that went wrong is my AC Clutch went, but the car still runs fine.

General Comments:

This car is a very nice looking car that runs strong and drives very smoothly. The steering is tight and handling is amazing for a car that has 132,000 miles on it. The engine has never had any problems as I know of and it gets great gas mileage I couldn't be more satisfied. The body is also in great shape, and paint is still in shiny except for your regular chips and scratches. If you are considering this vehicle I do recommend it, as long as you maintain it and don't beat on it you will get many miles out of it. The 3100 engine is known to last over 200,000 miles so also remember that when you are considering with other vehicles.

1997 Chevrolet Malibu from North America

Summary:

I'm going back to buying cars made in the 1960/70's

Faults:

On cold engine start, the engine surges.

Engine light comes on/off like a yo-yo.

A/C and heat stopped working, yet the engine light does not indicate that there is a problem.

General Comments:

Computer technology in cars reminds me of Microsoft, except when I turn my engine off and back on again, the problem is not resolved.

Car sometimes wouldn't start or would stall right after starting.

3 out of 4 tires went out-of-round somehow.

In my opinion, the cost of maintaining and repairing the car just isn't worth owning it.

It is a comfortable riding car when it is actually running and not in the shop.

1997 Chevrolet Malibu LS from North America

Summary:

GRRRRRR

Faults:

My Chevy Malibu looks great. It has definitely been well justified in gas savings!! I owne Jeep Cheerokee before my Chevy with over 200, 000 miles and I never had a problem with it the entire two years I owned it!! Isn't that something? I just got this car, keep in mind it has 144,000 miles, I put brand new tires on the car by Michellan which costs almost $700 thinking that my car should be in great shape. The dealer had done work on my car before I received it. fixing the oil leak which is still there... and my lights glitch... my ac went out which can't be recharged with a do it yourself kit, and my driver window just went out. I mean this car has not a single scratch and the leather interior is perfect. I can't afford all these problems going on, I'm a college student! Also, my theft system delays me to leave until it goes off!!

General Comments:

This car makes an sound like it's going to take off at an airport!

1997 Chevrolet Malibu 4 dr Sedan 4 cylinder from North America

Summary:

Best car I've ever owned!

Faults:

AC unit went bad at 30,000 miles.

All the recall items assigned to this model were taken care of by the Dealership.

I did get a extended warranty deal, (7 years), and that was a very smart move. It has been in the shop 3 times for recall items, twice for warranty repair, (AC unit and brakes).

Replaced bulb for interior light, and the cabin was dimmer than with the OE bulb.

General Comments:

Best car I've ever owned, and that includes the '77 Corolla, and the '81 Corolla!

Yes, I also had trouble with the ABS sensor, but once I found out it wasn't the brakes, I got over it.
