1992 Chevrolet S-10 Regular Cab 2WD 4.3L V6 from North America

Summary:

Amazing little truck with POWER!

Faults:

Needed new tires when I got it; bought new ones for $200.

Had no radio. Installed a new Pioneer head unit for $70.

No catalytic converter. Exhaust is barely hanging on ha ha. Has a straight pipe.

Has a hole in the tank, only holds a quarter of a tank, bought it like this though.

Gear selector is kinda of funny, and sometimes will start in reverse.

Body is kinda of rough; has some rust.

The lights on the gauge are barely visible.

Needs a tune up. Just put new spark plugs in though, just needs a few more things.

Door doesn't like to shut correct. It will stay shut, but just kinda of hangs. Was like that when I bought it though.

General Comments:

Okay, I know I've listed a lot of problems with this truck, but please don't get the impression that this truck is unreliable, because it's truly not.

The person I bought this from obviously took poor care of it. When I bought it, the rear tires had no tread on them, glove box was gone, no radio, he'd painted the truck black with red stripes, and I like the way it looks, but he got paint on the windows.

If you get a truck like this, make sure it has the 4.3 V6, because it truly rocks. The acceleration is amazing, and even though the exhaust is hooked up crappy, it gives a nice big roar down the road. I'm not kidding, this truck with this engine is no joke quick.

It also has a nice stock sound system too. I have a Pioneer head unit in the there too. Sounds really nice.

This is not a truck for some one who is bigger, and the bench seat can be kinda of be annoying for the passenger if you are short like me; I'm 5' 4", so yeah ha ha.

I love this truck, and plan to have it for a long time too. There is just something special about it that truly makes it a pleasure to drive.

1992 Chevrolet S-10 Tahoe 4.3 liter from North America

Summary:

Gotta love it!

Faults:

Coils went out at 180k miles.

New muffler at 190k miles.

New belt at 190k.

New oxygen sensor at 200k.

General Comments:

This truck has been very reliable for me. I love how this thing handles for a 1992.

I haven't spent too much on parts since I've had it. This truck is currently at 235k miles and still going strong! Has the original tranny and engine!

Well taken care of vehicle; if you keep up with the oil changes and whatnot, it will love you back!

Also the 4.3 liter engine is very strong and has some giddy up. I raced people in their Honda Civics and whooped... I was haulin a$$ in no time.

All in all, I've enjoyed this truck very much!

1992 Chevrolet S-10 Tahoe 2.8 Liter from North America

Summary:

I wish I had another one of these

Faults:

Water pump failed at 230,000 miles.

Heater core started leaking at 220,000 miles.

Rear main seal leaking oil at approximately 150,000 miles.

General Comments:

This truck is a great reliable truck. Lately it has had a few things go wrong, but it is a 1992 and has almost 240,000 miles.

I love this little truck. The paint is looking a bit rough, but I admit that I haven't been waxing it enough. The interior is a bit tight, but what would you expect from a regular cab.

1992 Chevrolet S-10 Ext 2.5 4 cylinder from North America

Summary:

Overall very reliable

Faults:

Catalytic converter had massive hole when I got it; had it welded.

Previous owner could not put tires on right, so a bolt broke; 40.00 fix.

Broken vent controls (hissing sound in cabin). I'm currently buying a replacement from the junk yard.

Paint is all sun faded, but not much rust (red & black).

Chrome grille has seen better days, but the truck is 16 years old.

Truck idles very high, will not run when idle is turned down. I have been given 1000 different reasons for this, and it has been very annoying. This makes the engine scream down the road, and it burns gas fast, however the previous owner is to blame for this.

Shocks need replacement.

Truck cost me $500.

General Comments:

Overall I'm happy with my truck. I have not had a problem starting it, and I've had it for a month or 2 now in the middle of the winter. If anyone could give me an idea as to why the truck will not run without the idle turned up, it would be appreciated.

I have always liked the old style S10s and S10 Blazers. I had a short bed 92 S10 before this, one and an 88 Blazer 2 years before that.

The engine runs very strong! The 2.5 is one of the most reliable engines on the road today.

Hi, I would try the throttle position sensor.
