I own a 1994 k1500 Chevy Silverado. It is throttle body fuel-injected and with a 5.7 V8 puts out over 200 horse power. My friend on the other hand has a 1996 GMC Sierra with a 5.7 V8, which is a vortex motor, and my Silverado puts out more horses because I have dual straights, so I don't think the vortec\x has added a lot of power to the truck.

I love my 1994 chevy silverado 4.3. it's 15 years old pushing 300,000 and runs like new. I live in the hills of TN and drive 130 miles a day. I get just about 20.1 mpg. I have a flat cap that covers the bed so that helps with mpg. I hope me and old blue keep run for years to come.

The 4.3 V6 Vortec came out in 1991. They started putting it in vehicles in 1988, but didn't call it the Vortec until 1991.

Actually Chevy did make a vortec before 96 I know for a fact that some '94 blazers had a 4.3 vortec that put out 200 hp. Not sure about full size, but the s10's did have a vortec. Just correcting ya :)
