1995 Chevrolet Tahoe LS 5.7 from North America

Summary:

Best Truck I've Ever Had! Will Definatly Get Another One

Faults:

Alternator pulley broke.

Oil cooler line leaked.

Driver's Seat broke, fixed with a home made bracket for $0.50.

Fuel economy wasn't that great.

General Comments:

I loved this truck sooooo much.

I wanted to keep it, but couldn't afford the gas & traded it in for a smaller more fuel efficient.

The cabin has plenty of space yet doesn't feel empty.

All the extras worked as if it was new. Even the AC!

1995 Chevrolet Tahoe LS 350 from North America

Summary:

Extremely Reliable

Faults:

Recently the air conditioner compressor would not turn on. The wire in the engine compartment had been disconnected or severed. I did not waste time to find it, I just ran a new wire.

Leaks engine oil from a line I have yet to find. Not a bad leak though. I don't have to add oil between changes.

General Comments:

The cloth seats are great. A little wear from getting in and out, but still in great shape.

Very comfortable ride and extremely reliable. Never left me stranded and starts up every time.

Every thing power works like brand new. I have never had to replace and switches.

Now that I have 2 kids I wish it had seating for 6. It would be nice to have that extra seat in the middle up front. My parents or In-laws go with us quite often. So they have to take their own car also.

I will definitely will buy another one when this one starts to fail.

1995 Chevrolet Tahoe LS 5.7 from North America

Summary:

You can buy quality for the same money.

Faults:

4x4 Quit working.

Right front axle seal leaked.

Front engine seal leaked.

AC Controller on the dash quit working.

Steering wheel "leather" bubbled up.

Rear brakes won't adjust correctly. Went through two sets of front pads and warped one set of rotors with almost no wear on the rear brakes.

Un greasable rear U joint went out early on.

Window and door lock switches had to be replaced.

Driver seat broke loose from the base. Had to fix with heavier metal.

Turns signals no longer self cancel.

Both rear wheel seals failed and soaked the brake pads with gear oil.

General Comments:

The only good things I can say about this vehicle are that it has plenty of power, has never failed to get me anywhere.

The overall design quality of this vehicle is very poor.

The front seats are poorly designed and offer no head restraint even with the headrests in the full up position.

The dash is all hard plastic.

The spare tire eats up a lot of room inside the back.

If you have driven many other makes out there today, you may find it to be a lot worse. Meaning the Tahoe never leaves people stranded anywhere. Unlike a few I know of that seem to die for no reason and leave you stranded. I guess people determine reliability different. Reliable to me, means it always at least limps back home. Any truck that dies with no warning signs is not reliable. Its happened with a few different makes myself. Never in my fullsize chev.

1995 Chevrolet Tahoe LT 5.7 Liter from North America

Summary:

Avoid at all costs

Faults:

You name it. Seems like the only thing that I did not have a problem with was the engine.

The brakes never worked right.

The transmissions, yes plural, were all sloppy.

The interior (plastic) trim rattled, squeaked and fell off.

The outside paint (emerald green) was flaking.

The alloys were turning a funny yellow color.

Needless to say this was one of the worst experiences that I have ever had with an automobile since my 1988 VW Jetta.

General Comments:

Good look and junky execution.
