1997 Chrysler Concorde LX 3.5 from North America

Summary:

Too bad Chrysler didn't get it right..

Faults:

Head gasket went bad at 113,000 miles.

Replaced engine at 120,000 miles.

Major cracking in front leather seats.

AC stopped working.

CV joints going out at 120,000 miles.

Stereo volume not working properly.

Major flaking on clear coat paint.

Exhaust pipe connection issue at the exhaust manifold.

General Comments:

This was a great driving car with a very comfortable interior.

The car was responsive with a lot of available power from the 3.5L engine.

I only drove the car for a few thousand miles when it started to have overheating issues. The radiator would go dry within about three days, and there was a lot of water coming out of the exhaust pipe.

The 3.5L engine seemed to suffer from defective head gaskets. The engine overheated numerous times, so I had the engine replaced. The rebuilt engine also had a variety of problems - rough idle, check engine light code, crankshaft sensor problem, stalling issues and more.

The Concorde was a good idea, but it was poorly built, and suffered from many mechanical problems.

1997 Chrysler Concorde LX 3.5L V6 from North America

Summary:

A great car... with typical Chrysler mediocre reliability

Faults:

No huge repairs, but several that I would not expect to have made on a Honda or Toyota in the same time frame:

Replaced warped front brake discs twice - and I am very easy on brakes.

Replaced water pump twice - and that is a high $$ repair.

Replaced power steering pump.

Replaced front tie rods.

Replaced frame cross-member supporting transmission.

A/C recharged three times.

General Comments:

I purchased the car new, and I like it very much. Great visibility, styling, comfort, ride, power, and handling.

As others have said, fuel mileage is excellent for a car of this size and power. At legal speeds, I easily see 30mpg on the highway. Not bad for a car of this size with a 215hp V6.

Reliability has only been "OK". When will Chrysler ever catch up to the pack on this?

1997 Chrysler Concorde LX 3.5 V6 from North America

Summary:

Great mix of power and luxury!!!

Faults:

The only major thing is arm bushings.

General Comments:

This is a great car!!! It is just about the best car I ever bought (except for my Camaro). It has a great mix of luxury and power. The 3.5 V6 gives me all the power I'll ever need without being a gas hog. I just love driving it!!!

The exterior has a very distinct style, you can't mistake a Chrysler Concorde for anything else. I love the exterior styling.

The interior is fantastic!!! It is very comfortable on long trips. It has all the cool features like automatic climate control and power seats. The leather seats are great!!! The Infinity speakers and radio/cd/cassette tape (Yes, this is factory) sounds great!!! When you ride in this you ride in luxury!!!

I love this car and it makes a great weekend car or everyday driver. I love it!!!

1997 Chrysler Concorde LXI 3.5L V6 from North America

Summary:

How bout one word, Outstanding!

Faults:

Absolutely nothing.

General Comments:

This car is seriously quick and handles like it's on rails.

The trunk has lots of room, I have a dual 12in speaker box and I still have room.

The interior has lots of room. I'm 6'1" and I moved the seat up a little.

The stereo is awsome, the infinity speakers are great and hit good.

The engine is very quite and fast, and shifts smooth.

I would highly recommend getting this car now too because I get 22 miles per gallon and I have a lead foot. so save money on gas now!

1997 Chrysler Concorde from North America

Summary:

Not worth the cost of repair

Faults:

The car is a good car to look at and all, but when it comes to the repairs and cost to fix it, it's not worth the pain of it.

It was a gift to me, but I spent 2,000 on the motor cause a rod was thrown in the engine. So I fixed it, and then I ran into the same problem 3 months later. The check engine light was on and they couldn't say what the problem was. So now my car is dead cause the rpm was off and would ride parallel to the gas hand. I don't know what's wrong with it.

General Comments:

It's good on gas and it's fast enough, but it has hidden problems under the hood. I would want another car.
