1998 Chrysler Town and Country LX review from North America

"Take care of it and it will take care of you"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

I never had a major problem on any vehicles I owned.

I guess first of all, I should say that I am a Master Technician, but what I am trying to say is that no matter what kind of vehicle you've got, and if you don't know how to treat it right, then you will have a problem. Like people, you don't treat them right then you will have problem.

I do my schedule maintenance on time, and I throw in a little extra like high mileage oil and some additive, transmission flush and some additive, fuel system flush and some additive, see what I'm talking about, take care of it and it will take care of you. I bought with a 65K on it, now it has 187K without seeing the dealer or one of their technicians.

General comments?

Used to owned a 1997 Town & Country, it was awesome, I had a heavy heart when I sold it and bought a 1998, and it didn't take me long to love this minivan. Great van, comfort ride, roomy, and it has power.

I didn't hear anything bad about the 3.8L engine.

Brakes? I do it myself, piece of advice, tell your mechanic adjust the brakes in the back, I know it's automatic, but if they set it right then your front brake will last you forever, and it won't take all the load of the vehicle during braking. Trust me the mechanic will say no, but have them do it, they're just lazy, well some of them really don't care or are just lacking the knowledge.

Flush all liquids regularly including your AC system, so it won't put a strain in the system, any system that never went through some flushing, will break on you.
