2022 Citroen C3 BlueHDI 100 1.5 Turbo diesel from Belgium
Summary:
Good summary of a cheap and very economical car
Faults:
No mechanical problems so far, just the normal service every 10,000 km.
The most frequent problems I had were related to the electronic system, for example, failures in the touch screen and the audio system, and breakdowns in the camshaft or crankshaft sensors, causing warning lights to illuminate on the dashboard.
Regarding the suspension, small squeaking noises can be felt in the front axle, commonly associated with a lack of lubrication in the shock absorber bump stops.
General Comments:
Four years ago I was looking for a small city car to replace my old 208. Among the options, besides the C3, were the Skoda Fabia, Opel Corsa, Mazda 2 and VW Polo. I finally decided on the C3 with a diesel engine (I avoided the Puretech at all costs, which has such a bad reputation).
The C3 is primarily a car that has everything you need for daily use; it's economical, very safe, and has good resale value. While I was warned about the cost of repairs and breakdowns, I found out that the main issues with this car are the AdBlue tank and the camshaft chain (which was previously 7 mm). To solve this problem, they widened the chain to 8 mm for the 2022-2023 models. The other thing is to drive it a lot to avoid clogging the DPF, and then just enjoy it.
In terms of comfort, it doesn't compare to my other cars, but I could certainly take a long trip in it. Compared to the 208, I'd say this one has a harder seat and it's much narrower than the C3's.
What I liked most about the driving mode is its precision and comfort. The gearbox is smooth and intuitive, the LED lighting is good, and it also has a GPS app that tracks everything the vehicle does. I even receive notifications on my phone when it turns on and off, the route traveled, and the fuel consumption in km/L.
What I didn't like was the famous Start-Stop system that you have to turn off from the screen; it would have been appreciated if it had a button to deactivate it.
Also, the air conditioning controlled from the screen isn't to my liking; however, the defroster and mist blower are readily available in case the windows fog up.
Well, that's all I can say after 60,000 km. Needless to say, it's a super economical car and you don't have to worry about fuel consumption.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes
