1999 Citroen Xantia SX from UK and Ireland - Comments

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Driver door dropped on hinges.

Wiper mechanism failed.

Water ingress into gearbox on 2 occasions.

Car was supplied with overtight throttle cable resulting in 68mph top gear idle speed.

General comments?

A previous Xantia featured all these faults plus suspension failure.

If you need a reliable car to do high mileage, don't touch Xantia with a smelly stick.

I'm 20 and I think the Xantia is a brilliant car, if you know what citroens are about then you would know they require looking after to maintain their brilliance of economy and they are reliable, its just that you have no idea what you are buying, and its best to read up on something your going to buy. The hinges are a known fact and to say the suspension has gone wrong, what exactly does this mean, it suggests as if you don't know yourself when the fix could be very easy and although the hydraulics look complicated and expensive they are surprisingly cheap and easy to cure.
