1983 Daihatsu Domino review from UK and Ireland
"Bargain car, that is reliable!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The carburetor needed re jetting at 40,000 miles due to excessive wear. This was quite cheap to repair, however the carburetor is quite small and complicated and it took 2 weeks for my fuel systems agent to obtain the parts.
The heater fan motor gave up at 52,000 - during the winter, it didn't take long to realise that a new one wasn't available, nor was a salvage one, so I rebuilt the one I had - very fiddly!
General comments?
Not that much has gone wrong with the car really, I service it myself as it is easy to work on and the parts are quite cheap. The car only has two cylinders, so one pack of spark plugs lasts twice as long! The oil filter is very small though and must be changed regularly as it can get clogged up.
To say the car only has 33Bhp, it goes well and I regularly take it on motorway journeys where it never misses a beat.
The handling is good too!
Generally it's a pretty good car.
