1993 Daihatsu Feroza SXP II 1.6 petrol from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

A great, reliable, affordable off-road vehicle

Faults:

When I obtained the vehicle, it had bald front tires.

The rear tires were also too big for the 4 wheel drive ride height.

The indicator stalk makes a weird noise when indicating left, it can stop the indicator from working. Still not fixed.

Ride height too low. Needs a lift kit to be practical.

General Comments:

The Feroza, especially the wide track model (SXP II) is a great affordable off-road vehicle.

Mine cost $11600 Australian, and was in mint, original condition.

Although underpowered by the small 1.6 Litre engine, the low-range gearbox does help it off road.

Mine came with alloy wheels, bull-bar, side steps, tow-bar, and all power options.

After purchase, I added some Goodyear Wrangler AT/R tires. My biggest improvement ever, on and off the road.

All in all, a good cheap 4 wheel drive package.

A recommended buy for the young, interested off-roader.

Did you find out about the left indicator yet, as mine is doing it now and I'm not sure what it is?

Cheers, Jye.

1993 Daihatsu Feroza ELII 1.6 EFI from Greece

Summary:

A powerful and small off roader

Faults:

I needed once to change the clutch, but it was my fault, because I used to step on it on off road experiences!

General Comments:

This car is really great!

It's fantastic where it can get me, it's a fantastic off road car, of course better than a friend's Vitara.

But it is very good, and on road it's comfortable enough and the seats are just great.

1993 Daihatsu Feroza SXP ll 1.6 from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

Stunning looking vehicle, but needs modifications

Faults:

Clutch fan gave way.

General Comments:

Well where do I start, I love the look of the Feroza, mine being the wide track model. My baby has been modified, 2 inch suspension lift and a 2 inch body lift with 31 inch all terrain tyres all around on a nice set of mag wheels.

Not a bad little 4wd considering that I have taken it on some serious 4wd tracks and it handled it quite well.

2 things let this car down which are the manufacturers fault, the gutless motor and the front suspension.

1993 Daihatsu Feroza EL II 2.5 turbo diesel Toyota engine from Turkey

Summary:

Perfect car for extreme off roading

Faults:

Clutch repaired.

Engine was in a very bad situation when I bought the car. Changed with a Toyota Landcruiser turbo diesel engine (Type 2L-T).

General Comments:

Very strong body (used in extreme off-road races - won all races in 1st place).

Torque value is not enough.

Fast for an 4x4.

Successfull with 4.9m turning ability.

Not for tall people (I am 1.88m) as standard (changed the seats, it's OK now).

1993 Daihatsu Feroza SXP11 1.6 EFI from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

It is a Beast and I have no regrets in my purchase

Faults:

Clutch went whilst off road, had to replace the whole clutch kit.

Had to fix two cracks on the guards in the engine bay.

And the heater doesn't work.

General Comments:

Apart form those few problems it is a great all round fun car to own and drive. I paid $15000 for it and it has been worth every cent, plus it is a chick magnet especially when the removable hard top is off.

1993 Daihatsu Feroza El-2 1.6 from Netherlands

Summary:

Reliable Performer

Faults:

The flywheel pulley of the powersteering seized up, but the power-steering was OK.

General Comments:

So far found it very reliable, little off-road, bit bumpy on the highway and a bit cramped for tall people, but generally a good car.
