1999 Daihatsu Terios SX 1.3 petrol from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

Fantastic value! Go anywhere with confidence

Faults:

It needed a new carpet despite genuine floor mats, This was replaced under warranty at almost 2 years old.

General Comments:

The car has a very high quality feel to it apart from engine cooling fan noise and a body buzz at speed. Don't expect to cruise more than 100ks and hour, TOPS.

The air con is not nearly as good as my Charade was.

Its undergeared for better off road performance and that spoils it on long runs, but makes it much more agile off road than you would belive it's easy to climb very steep loose surface that you struggle to walk up/down.

Only get 400/420ks to a tankful of petrol.

1999 Daihatsu Terios EZ 1.3 petrol from Malaysia

Summary:

Ladies look great with it

Faults:

The car has been almost free of trouble since day 1.

The air conditioning needs some adjustments but this was fixed under warranty without fuss.

General Comments:

It's a great car both on and off-road. Would have been better if it had been an inch or two wider.

1999 Daihatsu Terios Base 1.3 turbo petrol from UK and Ireland

Faults:

A bus hit it. I drove the Terios away with only minor scratches but the bus had to be recovered. I guess that means the build quality is good, then. Other than that, nothing has gone wrong.

General Comments:

I live out in the sticks, and this was the ideal compromise between a Landrover and a hatchback car. It drives off-road surprisingly well, holds the road no matter how bad the conditions and slices through floods and snow effortlessly. It cruises nicely but can be a bit unstable at high speeds (80mph/130kmph) if it is very windy (otherwise it sticks to the road like glue). The 4x4 drive is permanent and the car is very easy to get used to. I recommend it, especially if you need something to drive around rural areas, not too pricey, but want to something a bit more comfortable and manouverable than a tractor.

1) When I went to drive it (test drive) my legs didn't have enough space and it was not easy to get in without touching the steering wheel.

2) It's true that you don't feel very safe at speeds like 130 km/h.

3) Should be a bit wider.

4) In Greece the dealer didn't show me any turbo engine (as you say on your page).

5) But the engine was really good and the car is very good for off road use.

6) No noises during driving.

We have just purchased a Daihatsu Terios 1999 auto wagon - and are so far very pleased with all aspects of the car.

However, it came without a handbook. Is there any where on the net to find specifications for this car?.

Many thanks Sandie and Baz.
