The car overheated before I got it.
The right-front tire leaked air.
The radio blew a fuse once.
Had some trouble with the air conditioning compressor (then again, it had the original compressor).
This Aries was the best damn fine car you'll ever see!
Only reason why I don't have it anymore is because of title trouble.
The seats were pretty comfortable and the cabin was pretty decent, with the exception of the headliner. Nothing that a few thumbtacks wouldn't solve.
All of the accessories, with the exception of the air conditioner, worked fine.
The Mitsubishi ran strong and the transmission shifted smoothly, even when I floored it. :)
Overall, I wish I could find another one of these beauties. A great car. I loved it. If it was a girl, I'd marry it. *Laughs*
Did you ever have any carbureter problems with your Mitsu 2.6L engine in your Aries. I heard that the 2.6L engine was plagued by incessant carburetor problems.
I had an 85 Aries with the 2.6 for 3 years, 2000-2003. Before that it had been sitting in my grandmothers driveway for 10 years unsheltered from the New England weather, had never been started once during that period. When I restored it I DID have to put in a new carb which cost a hefty $800. The car ran great for 3 years although it did drink gas like a fish and had emissions 3 times over the Massachusetts legal limit (its cheaper to drive on an R inspection sticker and risk a ticket than to fix this problem). With the 2.6 the thing you have to be on the watch for are the timing chain guides. They're made of plastic and fail at around 100k. You can see it coming well in advance from a loud engine knocking at low rpm's. Email me at h_jones598@hotmail.com if you have any questions on the mitsu 2.6.
