1984 Dodge Caravan 2.2 Carb from North America

Summary:

Great, inexpensive, reliable family transportation

Faults:

CV boots & joints, brake master cylinder, exhaust, vaccuum lines.

General Comments:

Has been very reliable, besides a few problems in 11 years of mostly city driving. Lotsa room and comfort, little power or pep from oil-burning 4 cylinder engine, yet amazingly reliable.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Get rid of it right away!!! These vans are notorious for tons of problems. Get a 92-95 Aerostar. Very Reliable. Trust me!!

I am an auto mechanic myself and can firmly say that Ford Aerostars are terrible cars and easy the worst mini van ever made. Parts and labor are much higher on the Aerostar and the Aerostars constantly leak oil. The Caravan is a much, much better minivan. The 4 cylinders are cheap to have repaired, are reliable and economical. The Caravan is way, way better than any Aerostar.

Not only that, but the Aero star is just plain ugly- the Caravan's design looks better.
