1985 Dodge Charger Shelby 2.2 turbo from North America

Summary:

Mine, Mine, Mine

Faults:

When I bought the car, it was in excellent shape body wise, good shape on the interior.

I have had more recent problems with the fuel line and replacing the gas tank.

Once I finish replacing that, it is on to replacing the emergency brake.

General Comments:

I bought new tires all the way around the day I first made the car runnable, I knew I would SMOKE everyone off the road. And I did, believe that.

Feeling the Turbo kick in and slam me back into the seat is a feeling like no other.

Built for racing and speed, but not uncomfortably compact.

The fun of the manual transmission, the Turbo kicking in, watching the tires smoke the pavement...

All this and I am a girl. I love it.

Did the "Ram" part of your truck's nameplate fall off, so you think it's called a "Charger" cos Dodge never made a truck called that...

1985 Dodge Charger Shelby 2.2 turbo from North America

Summary:

In the Dodge tradition of affordable speed

Faults:

Fuel pump lost pressure, fixed on warranty.

Charging system failed, fixed on warranty.

Kept wearing out tires due to right foot.

General Comments:

What a great car. I had this car from new and thrashed the car for 5 years.

In the day it was a real head turner on the roads and I wish I still had it.

Added full ground effects and handled like it was on rails.

Got great mileage even at 100 MPH.

1985 Dodge Charger Shelby 2.2 turbo from North America

Summary:

Fast and furious for cheap (but rare)

Faults:

Had to replace shifter linkage pin.

Had to replace tires, (smoked 'em).

General Comments:

Will smoke the tires through first and second gears.

Looks like a circuit racer.

Seats are fairly comfortable and hold you upright in the corners.

Suspension feels soft over the bumps, but is nice and tight in the corners as well.

I just picked up a 1985 Dodger Charger Shelby at a farm auction. It has 19,000+ on the odometer with a almost perfect interior. It was last inspected in 1991. The original owner was killed in a motorcycle accident. I was told my his mother that he raced the car at a local dragstrip. It does however suffer from some fire damage, as it was sitting too close to a barn that burnt down. The fire melted the left rear tail light and started on the bumper. Also bubbled the paint on that side. The car runs great and seens to be fast (only got it to 2nd. in my 800 ft. driveway). I had to add new calipers, but other than that I think I got a great deal on the car. I am looking for a rear bumper and left rear ground effects. Anyone having information on a parts car would be a help.
