HI, I just bought a 1994 Dodge Colt Mitsubishi built 2 door sedan. OK here's the thing - I would like to know if I have made a mistake? I went to Canadian Tire to get a few simple things (I thought) and the guy at the counter said OH this car is obsolete and you will have trouble finding anything for it, and if you do, it will be expensive!! OH NO!! Is he right? I was under the impression that this is a reliable inexpensive car to drive, but I do like to do my own tune ups and things. If anyone has more info, please let me know.

The guy at Canadian Tire was probably just trying to sell you his brother-in-law's Chevy or something. If you can get parts for a '28 Ford or a Hupmobile, you can get parts for a '94 Dodge. I've not heard of Canadian Tire, but in the US there must be 3-dozen auto parts chain stores--Checker's, Kragen's, Advance Auto, AutoZone, Napa, Pep Boys, Car Quest, etc., etc., etc., not to mention the private stores. If all else fails, there is always the internet for mail order places like Jeg's, PAW, etc. I wouldn't worry about finding parts for any US made car.

You should be aware that the Dodge Colt was made by Mitsubishi. It is the best Dodge that Dodge never built. My Colt Vista Wagon has 300,000Km on it without any mechanical failures yet. I changed the oil every 5000Km or 3000 miles and rotate the tires every 10,000Km. I am currently in the process of changing the timing belt, water pump plus all the other belts and hoses.

All these parts were readily available at 'CANADIAN TIRE', however if you get stuck there is always the Mitsubishi dealerships.

We love this little car and prefer to drive it over our new Honda accord. My wife likes to sit up higher than most other vehicles. We get about 45 miles to the gallon. Yes, we would definitely buy another one.

I bought a brand new Dodge Colt back in 1994 and I have to say that after 222,000 miles I feel like I got my money's worth. For the exception of a leaky engine seal and general wear and tear this car receives an A+ as far as dependability is concerned and I don't baby this car either. Unfortunately the transmission is slowing dying so I don't know how long the car will be around. My Goal is to get it to 250,000. Another review said his Colt's odometer is at 301,000 miles... very impressive. I don't think that will be case with mine.
