1992 Dodge D150 3.9 from North America

Summary:

Willy Nelson has one just like it!

Faults:

Engine control unit failed due to Utility Package (110V inverter) frying the on-board voltage regulator-engine still ran, but headlights pulsed. Rear-Wheel anti-lock dump valve failure, cured by disconnect and brake line by-pass (symptom-no rear-brakes). Speed Sensor seal caused failure of speedometer (cheap fix). Anti-Spin Differential Failure due to Utility Company running different size tires on rear (Now open-differential action). White paint peeling off of Galvanized panels, but no rust, except where crashed-NOTHING ELSE!

General Comments:

This has been the best vehicle I have ever owned. 145K miles, no leaks, no smoke. Starts every time. Not the best for icy conditions, but pulls like a mule. Tire smoking power with 3 inch y-pipe back exhaust. Not the best fuel economy with a 3 Speed auto, but a truck that won't die is worth it. Drove it from Detroit to Tampa and all over the South, then back to Detroit. It's been in two feature-length motion pictures (have you?). Survived a crash with a Toyota 4-runner in GA.

1. You say the truck has been in "two feature-length motion pictures", but neglected to mention the titles -- were they ever released?

2. "tire-smoking power" from a 3.9 liter V6 in a full size pickup -- what?

1992 Dodge D150 5.2L 318 V8 from North America

Summary:

Great! Will be collector truck of the future

Faults:

Front brakes & rotors replaced - $300.00.

Ball joint bad / fuel line near tank bad, tank would have to be removed to replace.

Exhaust & muffler replaced - $300.00.

Cruise control button broke off.

Vent blower works only in 3rd position.

Paint is lousy - peeling all over.

General Comments:

I love this truck, it really is low maintenance.

Drives super.

Mileage not so good: 12-15mpg.

Great engine, and I mean great.

Pulls bushes out of ground with a log chain like it was made to do it.

Ext cab and long bed. Virtually no serious rust.

I could not replace this truck and its reliablity for twice the money. It's a keeper after 3 years. I paid $2000.00 and 600-800 dollars on repairs.

One solid, tough, strong truck

Faults:

Battery replaced. Front end alignment. Window, headlight, mirror, switches destroyed due to truck going underwater from hurricane Katrina (covered for two days!).

One tough truck. After hurricane, truck sat for six weeks, then all fluids changed, plugs, wires, coil changed. Now running great.
