2007 Dodge Dakota ST 4.7L V8 from North America

Summary:

Worst purchase of my life

Faults:

200kms- the steering column started to clunk when I turn it took 5 months to get a dealer to replace it.

1500kms- power steering hose blew.

I paid for 20 free oil changes with my warranty, almost impossible to get into a dealership. I had to do the last one myself, where I discovered they "forgot" to put skid plates on the vehicle as ordered. The dealership shipped them out to me, but refused to put them on.

The transmission slips out of reverse all the time, it clunks when you first hit the gas after shifting into drive, and sometimes it doesn't want to shift from first to second.

The passenger front tire has to be filled every week or so starting at 14,000kms, can't get it in to be fixed...

The back seat tab broke the FIRST time it was taken off.

General Comments:

I've never had this much trouble with a vehicle before. Also, I've never been treated so poorly by a company or dealership.

The truck can't get stuck. That's the only great thing I can say for it.

Rides unbelievably rough on uneven ground.

Electric seats very frustrating to operate.

Seats are quite uncomfortable for a long haul, backseats might as well be non existent.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No

I loved my 2001 Dakota, but when Dodge changed to the new style I just wasn't impressed with it anymore regardless of how great the mechanicals were (and my 2001 was 100% trouble free and reliable). I realize different people have very different taste in vehicle design, but to me the pre-2004 Dakotas were the sportiest looking trucks ever made. The new ones remind me of something from the "Bizzaro World" of the old Superman comic books. I bought a Ranger instead.
