2008 Dodge Dakota SLT 4.7 from North America

Summary:

Overall, very satisfied with this truck

Faults:

No problems to date.

General Comments:

Great truck, very reliable with lots of power to tow/haul a trailer.

The only negatives I would have would be the power side mirrors that come with the SLT package should be the folding style. I knew the moment I saw the truck, those fixed mirrors won't last long. Sure enough, within the first year I busted one off backing into the garage. I replaced both with the folding style.

The truck handles extremely well on the highway and corners very nice for a truck. Compared to my F150 I had prior, this truck has a stiffer suspension, and on the rough roads makes it a little bouncy, but that is expected for a truck. Not a big issue.

There have been no defects from the factory I've found or noticed. I do my own maintenance, and when I'm changing the oil, I look for and defects that I could claim as warranty, but nothing has come up.

The cabin is very roomy and seats four adults quite comfortably.

The fuel economy is what one would expect from the 4.7 V8.

The price point from the Dakota to Ram 1500 isn't much difference, but I didn't want the full size p/u, and found the Ranger too small because it isn't offered with 4 full doors.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

I agree the 2008 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab was the best vehicle that I have owned, so upgrading to a 2010 was a sensible thing to do.

I find that the steering on the 2010 vehicle to be very difficult to keep going straight. It seems that you are on the steering wheel all the time. No solutions from the dealer. I would like my old truck back or a solution.

I'm the original poster, I had the same issue with my 2008, the dealer did an alignment and it was better, but not perfect. However after I did my first wheel rotation the problem went away.

You may want to try that with your 2010, may just do the trick. :-)
