1995 Dodge Neon Highline from North America

Summary:

Not worth it unless you get it for free!

Faults:

My head gasket blew at 60,000 miles.

Battery corroded.

Cracks in tail lights leak water into trunk.

Leak coming from somewhere into drivers side floor and seat.

Strange odor coming from air condition and heating vents.

Mildew problem in trunk.

Brakes squeak no matter what is done to fix them.

Front end rattles when you make a turn.

Air leaks in windows.

Check engine light is on, and blinks intermittently.

General Comments:

I never wanted this car to begin with. My ex boyfriend was a car dealer and gave it to me for real cheap. I figured it only had 40,000 miles when I bought it, so it was a good deal.

I have not had any major problems with the car beside the head gasket blowing at 60,000 miles.

The minor problems are a nuisance. I have had many cars before and none of them emitted the odor that is coming from the air vents in this car. It smells like a mix between urine and mildew, and I have tried everything short of blowing the car up to rid it of the smell.

My check engine light comes on every now and then, but recently it has stayed on, and will occasionally blink, but it always stays on.

Recently my car has been slow to accelerate from a stop. I have no idea what this problem is.

I am not happy with this car, my husband is buying me a Nissan soon, but until then I have to make this car last.

Where do I start? I purchased a 1995 neon in 1997. It only had 23,000 miles on it, so it was fairly new. It ran well for the first year or so. Then the problems started. My brakes sqeaked a lot, even after they were changed. Whenever it rains, there is this horrible sound that it makes when the water hits the bottom of the car. I can't even explain the sound, its horrible! But no matter what, no one can find the problem. My trunk smells like mildew, my window, on both sides, are scratched on both windows, right in the middle of it. The window also whistles from the wind, like there is a window slightly opened.

Anyway, as you can see, its not such a great car! I'm on the lookout for a new car, hopefully within the month. If you want problems, your best bet is the Dodge Neon =)

I bought a used 1995 Dodge Neon Sport about 4 years ago, and still love the car! I have over 170,000 miles on the car and still drive it back and forth to work, which is a 90 mile round trip daily. I have never had any major problems with the car, and have only done routine maintenance. I would highly recommend this car and would gladly buy a new one exactly like it!

1995 Dodge Neon Highline from North America

Summary:

A great price with an even greater performance

Faults:

Shocks have worn down a bit after 7 years.

Found problem with fuel cartridge that was easily replaced.

Oil appeared to be leaking into the vacuum, but was later discovered that an imcompetent person had put the oil in the wrong compartment.

General Comments:

This car is a used car which obviously entitles it to have problems.

What people that are complaining about this model don't realize is that it is generally not the manufacturers or the models fault for the very minor problems that occur.

9 out of 10 times it is the fault of the previous owner and how they took care of the vehicle.

I have had virtually no problems with this car, it's sharp looking, it starts right up every time, it turns on a dime, it gets excellent gas mileage and it was purchased at a very reasonable price.

These cars are IMPOSSIBLE to kill!
