1994 Dodge Ram Pickup SLT 5.2 318 from North America

Summary:

Sympathy for anyone with a Dodge

Faults:

Electric seat motor wires fried, water pump at 99,xxx, ball joints 100xxx, transmission and torque converter at 105xxx.

I am greatly dissatisfied with the whole Dodge corporation.. so much for Ram tough... the truck was driven by old man for 97,000. After I purchased it, it ran fine until major water went out, looking at a possible blown head gasket...

Not really wanting to see how much this will cost..

Anyone looking for a 1994 Dodge Ram 5.2 318!!!!

Really rides great!!!! Haven't ever had a problem.

I give my sympathy to all those who have to take their time working on their Dodge

General Comments:

Used to be a great truck until problems arose.

All parts are a lot more expensive. I can't afford the labor so I do all my own work.

Don't plan on owning a Dodge... ever.

1994 Dodge Ram Pickup SLT 5.9 Gas from North America

Summary:

Fast, will easily roast the tires off

Faults:

All ball joints needed to be replaced. $700 with labor and parts.

Fuel pump; $800 total. $500 just for the pump.

Water pump; $50, did it myself.

Alternator bearings. Replaced the alternator myself; $110.

Oil sending unit; $20, very difficult to reach, but did myself.

Rust in doors, haven't fixed.

Window seals, haven't fixed, caused door rust.

Found a hole in the floorboard. Easy fix if you can weld.

Catalytic converter clogged up. Up to $700 for a new one. Decided to just cut it off.

Can smell motor oil through the vents when at high RPM, when you punch it or downshift.

Runs hot, will over heat if it idles for more than ten minutes, even after putting a lower temp thermostat in it.

Horns quit working, decided to just yell out the window if needed.

Spare tire mount rusted, and I lost the spare tire somewhere along the way.

Radio just stopped putting out sound; speakers still worked but no sound.

All dash is cracking.

General Comments:

Strong truck.

Can stay with a Honda all the way through first gear.

Nice ride. Even with a short wheel base, it still rides smooth.

Small payload capacity.

Won't shift into overdrive right. I haven't taken the time to work on it, so I'm not sure how hard it is to fix.

Even with everything that has gone wrong with this truck, I still love it. Now that everything is fixed, it runs like new.

1994 Dodge Ram Pickup Laramie SLT 318 5.2 V8 from North America

Summary:

Beast!

Faults:

Nothing; it's running strong.

General Comments:

It's running strong; very fast and roomy.

It's a 5 speed and there's nothing wrong with the transmission.

One day a Chevy got stuck in a ditch because the guy said he was trying to have fun. When I pulled him out, the truck didn't even spin the tires or anything; it pulled him out like nothing. Dodge rules.

The only thing I've hooked to it is just a glass pack, and it sounds really nice.

1994 Dodge Ram Pickup 1500 Laramie SLT 5.9 from North America

Summary:

Reliable

Faults:

When I purchased the truck it needed a new thermostat, coolant sensor, wiper blades and all the fluents needed to be flushed and changed.

It needs new upper and lower ball joints on the left side and a control arm.

I think the oil sending unit is starting to go bad, or the bearings in the oil pump are starting to go.

General Comments:

I have owned other Rams in the past and have had no major problems with them.

I wouldn't be afraid to drive the truck around the country.
